Parent facing, nice for walking, big wheels?

My oyster has finally given up on me so need a replacement asap. There are tons of forward facing prams I like & could easily pick from (nipper/Britax BMotion/BJCM), however I really want dd (10 months) to stay rear facing for at least the next 6 months, possibly up to a year.

So....I want something parent facing, that has good suspension & is smooth & light to push and that has decent sized wheels for going on & off our bumpy park. Big shopping basket is a bonus. Weight doesnt matter too much as have an umbrella fold for the car.

Any suggestions on what I could look at?
Tia

I have the Jane trider which I love. Basket is pathetic though so depends on how important that is for you. It's a dream to push and turns on a sixpence. Really good build quality, adjustable suspension and really easy to flip the seat to forward/rear facing. We use rear facing but have used it forward facing as a highchair if out and about and nothing suitable. Has a nice recline and reasonable sized hood.

Baby jogger city versa gt fits the bill if your budget would stretch that far!

TeamBacon · 30/09/2015 18:56

Armadillo? Think the newer one is parent facing

I have the Silver Cross Sleepover Elegance which ticks all your boxes (suspension to die for), but it is very love it or hate it. It's meant to emulate the old carriage style prams, and has a big hood, even when used as a pushchair. But I bloody love it Grin

Wheels aren't massive, but it steers well and has a big basket. Not the cheapest though

I came on to say Oyster Max 2 but you say you've just had an oyster so I guess you want a change? I think it ticks all the boxes though!

I have the Silvercross pioneer - can go forward facing or parent facing, and the wheels are great for off-road adventures! I run with my DD in it, and with the wheels locked so the can't swivel, it pushes really smoothly Smile

I love my cam3

If money were no object i'd have had a buffalo or a stokke trailz. But unfortunately my budget doesn't go that far! I like the versa gt suggestion (mostly because i know it fits in my small car boot if i want to take it out too) but am still debating whether its worth the spends if i only get a year's use out of it.Confused.

Anyone know what the uppababy vista is like? Seen one for sale second hand today & although its massive it ticks the boxes - only bit am not sure on is suspension/how it handles bumpy terrain.

Am i being a twit & wasting my money on a rear facing pram? Is dd going to want to face forward in a matter of months?Confused

Get one that can be parent or front facing. I like to be able to swap mine around depending on whether I want to look at my child whether he wants to look out or sleep or whatever :)

LittleFishBigOcean · 02/10/2015 21:09

I read the thread title and was coming on to say oyster.....

Laquila · 02/10/2015 21:13

Versa can face both ways and is a brilliant buggy. You'd prob sell it for £150+ second-hand afterwards on one of the Facebook BJ sites.

omama · 02/10/2015 23:49

Thanks everyone for their posts. The oyster has been great & lasted 2 kids but its now ready for the scrapheap & I don't really want another!

Versa lovers - do the wheels rattle at all or are they noisy over pavement?

I have the gt (which is forever air tires) and there's no rattling at all, it's a very smooth push. It's main drawback is it is really heavy! And not a looker (bit utilitarian).

Graciescotland · 03/10/2015 02:41

I was going to say silver cross elegance too. If you happen to be in Scotland I'd be happy to flog mine to you, I have twins so had to swap to a double.

FindingNormal · 03/10/2015 10:06

Love my uppababy vista. Everyone envies the massive basket and fab sunshade system- and can be forward or rear facing.

omama · 03/10/2015 18:17

Gracie thanks but am too far away. Think i've narrowed it down to versa & vista, just got to make up my mind!

Yes Versa GT is lovely to push - very smooth. Having used my BJCM today, with its LOUD velcro peep holes on the hood, it's reminded me how great the magnetic flap things on the Versa are!! Agree though that it's heavy to lift in and out of car (although I had a section and managed OK with it once I was out and about driving) but not heavy at all to push. I alos prefer a non-bucket seat but don't know if you can get such a thing if you also want parent and forward facing.
