Baby jogger city mini GT - have you used with newborn?

What are your experiences with this? Is it really comfy enough for a newborn? Did you buy something special to keep it warm/cosy?

Am also considering Uppababy cruz. I need something lighter than the main travel systems.

I have one of these and used it from birth with the deluxe bassinet however I moved my son into the main pushchair at 9 weeks when we went travelling. I used a JJ Cole support from John Lewis which supported his head and neck and was comfortable as a liner for the rest of his body. He was and is very happy in it but I felt a little perturbed to start with that he wasn't facing me. Overall I am happy with it - in particular how easy it is to fold and get into the boot of my car and how easy it is take when travelling as it folds in one.

There a couple of things that annoy me about it but then I don't think there is a pushchair that does it all (well not in the price bracket I was looking for anyway) Smile

I had a bjcmgt from birth. But also another pram. I would not say it is suitable to use from birth all the time without a carrycot but fine for short times/every now and again. I will upload a picture of my DS in it on one the occasions we did so you can see our problem with it. I can't work out how to get it from iPhoto onto here though so I've taken a picture of the screen on my phone so excuse the quality.

About 2 months here I think. I know the straps are off in that pic because I was sat in front of him just rocking him to sleep not going anywhere but that regardless he always just shoved his face in the side as soon as he fell asleep then I had to disturb him all the time moving him.

I use this pram with a 21 month old and have done since 5 months - however I wouldn't be happy to use it without the carseat for younger babies

However you can get the carrycot second hand for not too much money and it's fine by the time they grow out of that. We mostly used it with the carrycot, or car seat if it was a very short trip when he was small. Now he's older it's brilliant - but DS still prefers his other pram.

Thanks for all the tips people. Very useful. Captain does the carrycot go on both ways, or just forward facing?

We used it with the car seat (MaxiCosi Pebble) until DD was big enough to sit facing forwards (around seven months, but she is quite tall). You can get little adaptors to sit the car seat on the pushchair. DD has always loved being out and about, but particularly loves the forward-facing pushchair now.

The carrycot is rear/parent facing. We also bought adapters and used it as a travel system wth our recaro infant carrier. About £20 IIRC.

Bit late on this one but I have BJCM GT and used it from day 1. I didn't bother getting a bassinet or carrycot and instead used a mammas and papas newborn liner here-

It has a little wedge to sort of lift baby's bum so they are absolutely flat. You can remove wedge when they get a bit bigger if you still want them in a nest. I wrapped a nice fluffy blanket around that and didn't bother with a footmuff till DD got older (got her a lovely sheepskin lined wallaboo one then and cut some extra holes in to fit straps).

To be honest if you put a nice fluffy liner of any kind into the seat it'll make it flat as it is almost flat when at its lowest recline as it is.

It is a FABULOUS pushchair. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I used it from newborn with carry cot or car seat. Carry cot til around 4/5 months. It is quite narrow but does the job. It is a bit cumbersome with car seat on it as effects the steering, but as a single purchase travel system (ie lasts throughout toddlerhood) it is the best on the market I think, the only thing it doesn't do is parent face. One handed fold and only 7kg is not really comparable to anything else available that can also be used as a travel system.

I'm using this with my 4 week old & it's so easy to use. At the moment she goes in the carrycot when we're going longer distances & then in the pushchair for short journeys but that's down to my personal preference. DH would quite happily have forgone the carrycot however it is proving useful as DD will sleep in it occasionally during the day.

Ginger nuts what carry cot did you get? The compact or deluxe version. I'm planning on getting the compact version as I decided no point getting a pushchair for its compact fold if I'm going to complicate loading the car up with a big carry cot. I don't mind it will only last a few.months as.like you said the pushchair can be used lay flat straight away. I do like the idea of having those early newborn days in the carry cot and using when I visit baby and toddler groups instead of having to carry the baby sleeping in a car seat when you want somewhere safe for them to be put down.
