Second hand mountain buggy or new out n'about?

Is the small weight difference and general build of the mountain buggy worth getting one second hand or should I just get a new out n'about? Obvs because we can't afford a new mountain buggy.

Depends what you want it for (baby obviously!) but you know what I mean! Are you going to have another one afterwards, and does it have an extra seat attachment? Can you fit your car seat onto it? What type of walking will you be doing? And lastly, what is your budget? Smile

Good questions Swifey, this baby will be second and last child, DS is 4.5 and walks for miles (and enjoys it...)
Buggy will be for everyday walking through parks and weekend walks (woods/country).
Budget is no more than £300 including accessories, carry cot, etc. but not car seat, we are being given that one.

Have a look for ex demos too! We bought a phil and teds for about £300, instead of £600, and we live in the middle of nowhere, and it does everything wonderfully. I haven't come across the ones you are looking at, sorry.

I have a nipper, bought it new recently and I love it. The mountain buggy looks great, but I couldn't warrant the price tag for any pushchair. I think the nipper is great value and can't fault it so far! If you have any questions just ask, have been using it daily on rough terrain for dog walks, in and out of car, round shops and even on the beach. Love it!

Which one fits in your car better.
A pro for out n about is all the pockets and storage on it.
A con of the mountain buggy depending how new the one you get is that adjusting the height on the harness is a pain. I adjusted the hieght on a 2010 mountain buggy the other day it took me ages.
The other thing is with the out and about the seat stays on when you use the carry cot so if you are going on a trip and don't have enough room for carry cot or you get to the stage when you only want baby in the cot if sleeping and want to use the seat so baby can see with mb you have to keep taking the seat on and off.
You can get spare parts for the mountain buggy.

I would get a out n about

I have a mountain buggy and I absolutely love it. We got it second hand but have had no problems with it. It's so nice to not worry about the width of it when going places and I find it really easy to push (and I am a 5ft not very fit person with back problems- it feels like nothing even with two large 17month olds in it and a ton of shopping)
The only small niggle is the brake is a bit annoying in summer when wearing sandals but that isn't really a deal breaker.

We looked at Out'n'About and the Mountain buggy - went for the Mountain Buggy as I didn't like the Out'n'about fold mechanism. We bought it in a Kiddicare 20% off sale so it was not too horrific price wise. It's been fab - it was the only place my DCs will nap other than on me. 2.5 years and 2 children later and it's like new.

That said, we never bought the car seat adaptors or carry cot for it.

Sorry, should have said I have the Mb duet. But I imagine that the singles are even lighter.
