Buggy board for 2 year old (and 3 months!) or double buggy

Hello

My second baby is due in September when my dd will be 27 months. We have an Uppababy Vista and just debating whether to get the rumble seat or buggy or a different double buggy like the candy peach as my dd may prefer being on top not at the bottom like the Uppababy Rumble seat. I will only have them both 2 days a week as dd is in nursery 3 days and the trips we have on the 2 days off will be car trips when a buggy won't be needed or a trip to soft play/music groups which are 5-10 mins walk away.

Anyone with similar age gap that could recommend? Only thing that concerns me is heavy rain and buggy board but thinking if only 5 mins an umbrella attached to buggy pram to shelter dd may suffice?

Thank you!

It doesn't sound like you need a double. I'd get the rumble seat and a buggy board and sling/carrier to give a few options and see how it goes.

If your dd still fits in the buggy you have I'd just get a sling for the new baby.

21m gap here.
I also have a vista and got a rumble seat and buggyboard. Also a sling for baby so I alternate depending on distance etc.

The rumble seat is ok but makes it very difficult to steer. Ok if walking from a to b but we discovered that negotiating it around John Lewis was hopeless.

Thanks for your feedback. With the Uppababy Board is it quite smooth along pavements and getting up kerbs etc?

I bought a lascal board- cheaper than uppababy and works fine on pavements etc.

I honestly wouldn't get an icandy peach to make into a double if your oldest is over 2yrs. The top seat feels really wobbly when it has any weight in it and the baby is practically on the floor, the seats are ok but the carrycot for the lower position is tiny and doesn't last very long at all. I've found that I'm struggling with just the buggy board with my 2yr 8mth old and newborn, it's great for shortish journeys but not so good when I'm needing a walk in the afternoon and my toddler is tired. I've ended up with a babyjogger city mini double for walks, and a pram with a buggy board for nursery drop off and shopping. It does depend on what journeys you do, the babyjogger is massive and doesn't fit in my boot.

I have a similar age gap and got a lot of use out of the double.

We did quite a lot of walking and DS was a winter baby so I didn't want to have to go everywhere at toddler pace. I imagine we would not have used it so much had we driven more.

Buggy board didn't work out for me, it was a challenge getting up and down kerbs, so often ended up having to take toddler off as we went across roads which was not ideal. Eldest also had a bit of a tantrum phase after number 2 arrived and it was much easier to strap her in the buggy and distract with snack/drink to get home than trying to coax her to stand safely on the board. Things like the supermarket were also a lot easier with them both fastened in.

We didn't use the double buggy for long though, perhaps 6 months or so. After that DD was mostly walking and I went back to a single buggy with a sling just in case.
