Expensive taste but purse says no

Looking for a pushchair/travel system to be used from birth that is parent/world facing. I like the icandy/oyster kind of style but budget doesn't agree!
Ive looked at the mothercare expedior online but wasn't keen. Can anyone suggest alternatives?
Would be used for around town mostly

I know the feeling Smile

Oysters are really not expensive second hand, I have seen them on Facebook selling groups as low as £40.

DeathMetalMum · 03/05/2015 09:22

I'd look second hand also. Check out a local nct sale pushchairs are on view and you can play around with them etc. Most of the fabrics can be removed an washed in the machine these days.

I had this for Ds m.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Travel-and-Pushchairs/Travel-Systems-and-Pushchairs/Pushchairs-and-Strollers/Graco-Symbio-Pushchair-in-Urban/0109549 it's a lovely pram, the only downside I had was the shopping basket but I got buggy clips and hung bags off the handlebar if need be

Mutsy evo, great pram.
Lightweight, easy to fold. Lovely to push.
Folds in one piece both parent and world facing.
I had the carrycot as well and you can attach a handle to it that makes it stay flat and you can lift it off the frame with the baby in it if you are careful.
Doesn't have a wide base so fits in shops easily. Search it on YouTube there are a few good videos.

I have the M&P Sola City. I don't think they do it anymore but have similar models. We got it at a warehouse type pram shop for much cheaper than on the M&P website (less than £300 for the pram inc frame, carrycot, buggy attachment & car seat). It's really light (we live in a 2nd floor flat) & very easy to manoeuvre in small spaces. Only thing is the carrycot is on the small side. DD is not even 3mo & nearly too long for it! But the buggy fully reclines so she'll be able to go in that soon hopefully. I would look at warehouse type places. Also I believe John Lewis will price match if you find any of their prams cheaper elsewhere.

Have iCandy still got cheap Cherries for sale on their website? They seemed like an absolute bargain. Or look at the even more bargainous (is that a word) Easywalker Mini Strollers on the Winstanleys website.

Otherwise, look for a Silvercross Pioneer, a Babystyle Oyster 2 or a Mutsy Evo or Igo, or a Casual Play Kudu 4 or a Britax Affinity. Whether new or second hand, these are all gorgeous pushchairs without being top end prices.

I have the mother care xpedior, what was it you wasn't keen on? Truth be told it's the best travel system I have had I've had several although at 14 months DD has outgrown it Sad

cosmicglittergirl · 04/05/2015 12:55

I had the expedier from mother care too, it was really good, I can't fault it on price, the car seat attachment was very helpful and a lovely big basket. Currently using an I candy (double) which I got second hand on eBay. eBay prices for second hand I candies are a lot I think though, so agree with lookin at selling groups.

shitebag · 04/05/2015 23:16

What's your budget?

Personally, I wouldn't buy second hand as the last 2 pushchairs I've bought after thoroughly checking them out only for some unseen fault to occur leaving me without a pushchair and no warranty.

If you'll be using it in town will you be on/off public transport, in/out of the car or walking there? I only ask as two piece fold pushchairs are fine if you walk a lot, useless for public transport and just plain annoying getting in and out of the boot so that's definitely something to think about.

You can get a silver cross pioneer for £450 from the outlet shop in Bradford. They sell them on eBay. They are slight seconds ie the odd scuff which I figure will happen inside a week anyway

FantasticMrsFoxx · 07/05/2015 23:29

I bought my buggy from amazon.com for half the price it was on amazon.co.uk. It arrived within a week.
If you are buying online, check out camelcamelcamel for the lowest prices offered on Amazon and set up a price drop alert.
(Yes, I appreciate they have shoddy working practices and unethical tax avoidance issues. Literally, my buggy and my cot mattress are the only things I bought brand new. Everything else my baby has is pre-loved.)
