Buggy napping question

I have a son who only naps in the buggy. For many reasons I've decided not to tackle this for now - the buggy doesn't have to be moving so it's not that inconvenient and often makes life a lot easier!

I was just wondering whether anyone who has had a similar baby (he's 7 months old) knows whether he's likely to nap in a different buggy just as easily? I'd like to get something compact to keep in the house as the main buggy's tires get very muddy, but don't want to mess with a napping situation that is finally working for us!

You have a Versa? I'd be more comfortable with a lie flat seat personlally, especially with him being relatively young but it might be the non lie flat nature he likes. I've never had a buggy napper so I'm jealous, it's way more convenient.

Apart from napping in the house what else will you want to use the smaller buggy for? I'm leaning toward starting with a Nuna pepp because there are good offers at the moment, reports seem good and it lies flat.

Yes, it's a versa! I'm fairly certain the incline is what he likes. I know he's pretty young but he is so crazy strong I'm not too worried about it (he spends most of his waking hours cruising around). I'm more than happy to be told I should worry about it though if you think it's something I should worry about!

If I was going to get another buggy it would either be a really cheap stroller with recline or a baby jogger mini.

You are not alone. School drop off. Baby group. Buggy nap. Warm cup of tea Grin

My lo used to nap well in the bugaboo frogs bucket seat but she naps equally well in maclaren quest and bjcm's lie flat seats. We don't always recline them completely flat though as she seems to like her head slightly elevated.

I think if he naps happily in a buggy already I doubt it'll make much difference really. Smile

I have a Maclaren XLR which lies alsmost totally flat. DD (now a non napping 3yo) had all her naps in it from about four months, and ds who is 4mo is about to start. It has also been a lifesaver when they were really poorly (chicken pox, flu etc) where they wouldnt settle at all in their cot we would push tgem in the buggy til they fell asleep and leave them in it til they next woke. The hood also pulls quite far over so even wheb out and about we could shade them well.

Iirc it was about 300 brand new but id imagine they resell on ebay cheaply, and they are proper workhorses so really do last.

My ds is a buggy napper - 15m old now. He will nap in any buggy. I might try to get him to nap in his cot when he goes down to one nap but I find it much more convenient than having me and the toddler stuck at home whilst he sleeps. I wouldn't worry about the lie flat thing at 7m.

I had two buggies with my twins, who always slept in the buggy. I had a Phil and teds and a mothercare side by side like mountain buggy, they both slept in either. I used to walk em round the block and five minutes later, both catching flies!

MissRainbowBrite · 04/03/2015 21:05

DD was, and still occasionally is, a buggy napper. She's just turned 3 and on the odd days she has a sleep she'll quite happily sleep in her pushchair. When she was younger though she would quite happily nap in either of our pushchairs, we have a Cosatto stroller and an icandy Apple so lie flat and bucket seat but in the Cosatto she never liked the seat lay completely flat.
She spent many a nap outside in the garden asleep if it was dry, even sometimes in the winter. I just made sure the garden gate was locked and I pottered around close by to keep an eye on her.

TeaandHobnobs · 04/03/2015 21:09

I'd suggest a Baby Jogger Vue (used to be Njoy Bubble) - it is a stroller that faces both ways, so useful as a lightweight alternative from early on (lies almost flat).
I wouldn't buy a BJCM if you already have a proper buggy / pram unless it was as a replacement - I love my BJCM but it does the full job, apart from weigh a bit more / take up a bit more space.

Plonkysaurus · 04/03/2015 21:20

My two year old is a buggy napper. He goes down nicely in our Mamas and Papas armadillo for two hours at a time (heaven!). He's also napped well in a Maclaren XLR, and ancient chicco thing at nursery. He hated napping in the Phil & Teds dot, which is narrow and not very shielded.

So IME buggies for naps need to be wide, with big hoods.

I have a 9mo buggy napper. He has severe reflux so the incline is great for him. He normally naps in a wayfarer but occasionally in a BJCMGT. He prefers the wayfarer but will nap in the BJ. I'm sure he would nap in most prams.

Thanks everyone, I will be on the look out for something second hand!
