Let down by Maclaren Quest- how to replace?

So, I have a Maclaren Quest, which in most respects is ideal for me- it is light enough that I can heft it upstairs to my flat on my own, even fully reclined with a sleeping toddler inside, and it folds down really small so I can jam it behind our coatstand in a corner of said (small) flat if it's not in use for a while.
In reality I rarely fold it now- although I did a lot to start with, when we were still mostly slinging, and I expect I will more as it eases out of use and we go on foot more (DS is 2, tall and 13kg and counting)

My problem is that it has got through its second set of back wheels in just over three months, and I refuse to just suck it up and get them replaced once a quarter. We do walk a lot, and don't have a car. We're in London, so lots of popping onto buses, and lugging up a and down stairs at stations. And of course I hang stuff off the back (although not that much stuff, I don't think? Maybe it is!)

So, please, lovely knowledgeable people, what should I do?
Become a Maclaren repair technician and make my fortune?
Buy a different pushchair? If so, which one? I can't bear it! I thought I had DONE the pushchair figuring out thing!

It's clearly a fairly common problem, newbie, judging by the state of the wheels I see in playgrounds! Fingers crossed one of the lovely pushchair-heads will appear and magically tell us what to do!!

I used to have the maclaren xt and never had any problems with the wheels. Are they different?
I had a nightmare with phil and ted wheels getting holes all the time (6+ years ago now)

It's always quests and triumphs you see this happening to, no idea why. Doesn't seem to happen the same on the bigger maclarens.

I'm not much use because I really dislike umbrella folds, which means I always suggest other styles of pushchair.. So I would look at a Babyzen Yoyo, mountain buggy nano or recaro easylife. Tiny folds, light, single handle.

The Nuna pepp and red kite zumi are both pretty good and reasonably priced but a bit larger and heavier than you would want maybe?

The wheels are a different type on the Techno XT and Techno XLR (the bigger Maclarens).

A friend of mine is currently using her Techno Classic for her 4th child (who is nearly 2 1/2). The pram was bought for her first baby who is now 9. The covering on the handles has worn and become white, but the wheels are not worn at all. She puts me and my multiple (9!) prams for 3 children to shame!

You'd think Maclaren would just put a smaller version of the Techno wheels on their other models. I've got a Quest, it's my 'keep in the car boot' pram so it doesn't get used every day, but the wheels are still wearing down at quite a pace. They don't look as bad as some though.

Thank you ihateparties, newbie and AliceMum!

Ugh, I wish I'd bought a Techno the first time around, but there you go. Feeling a bit anti Maclaren because of the warranty thing (although to be fair that could be Mothercare's fault...) so I'm slightly loath to just go out and get a techno- although part of me just wants it solved right now!

I'll look into those suggestions Ihateparties- thank you so much for making them!
I nearly went for the Yoyo when I was buying the Quest, but chickened out as hadn't seen any around except one with a little baby in, and I was scared it wouldn't last through toddlerdom. Food for thought!

In the meantime my neighbour has offered me her now redundant Micralight, so I'll give that a go and see how we do- I shall report back, newbie.

As promised- I'm reporting back on the Micralite- it's great! And also to hand, so that's me sorted.

It is SO easy to push, especially compared to the Quest, and although the fold is bigger, it is still fairly compact. It is super easy to get up stairs and on public transport.
I don't like the teeny tiny hood, and the basket, though bigger than the one on the Quest, is more annoying to get at. I'm having a little rethink about how I cart my shit around (and just what I cart...)

So, not quite what I said I was after, but ACE!!!!
