pushchair from birth - not travel system

Can anyone recommend a pushchair like the maclaren style ones that can be used from birth?

Dd is 3 weeks old and currently in our my4 mothercare travel system. However since i had the my4 from ds ive been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and struggle to lift it in and out of the car and dont have the ability to lift off the carrycot or car seat from the chassis.

When ds was 9 months we got a maclaren quest which is alot lighter and easier for me but it doesn't lie flat.

In an ideal world it would be around £100 but happy to pay more for the right one

Baby Jogger Vue? It also parent faces but is an umbrella stroller

We have a mini city jogger double and love it. Thinking about getting single one as well. Folds easily with one hand, reasonably light and is forward facing (I have had DD in it since birth) but if you want you can get a carry cot insert for it

Things like the loola can be parent facing or face away and are fairly light and can be used from birth. There are lighter ones out there but we found the loola to be well balanced for carrying which made it quite easy. Your best bet really is getting to somewhere like John Lewis and having a play. A lot of the ones which are sold as travel systems don't have to be used like that.

We had a Maclaren Techno xt, which is suitable from birth and we used it for both of our dds, from birth.

It would kind of be doubling up on what you already have, but equally it sounds like exactly what you need!

The new maclaren quest lies flat and can be used from birth. I have the denim version that has extra section in hood to block sun too.

AliceMum09 · 01/03/2015 20:33

Yep, the Quests from 2012 onwards are suitable from birth, and even have extra bits at the head and foot ends of the seat that you can fix up to make the seat more secure for a newborn.

mote expensive but look at the babyzen yoyo 0+. If you sold the my4 pram you would get some money back towards it also

This is what I'm looking for too.

I had wanted a travel system as I found transferring the last DC in and out of the car seat to buggy a pain. But we were pram shopping and I tried to get a car seat (without a baby in it!!) out of a travel system and couldn't lift it! (Back problems) so that's killed that idea.

I'll need something very lightweight that I can fold into the car without much bending.

I wouldn't be shopping with it so don't need a big basket, it would just be for walks in the park etc.

I had a super light maclaten 6m+ before and loved it!

Also do you get a footmuff with it or buy it seperatly?

I think most strollers can lie flat which makes them suitable from birth. The older mamas and papas armadillo is a good one. There is a new one though so I'm not sure if it's still the same.

There's plenty of maclarens suitable from birth if that's what you want.

newbiefrugalgal · 05/03/2015 11:06

What's the difference between the maclarens?

HoppityVoosh · 05/03/2015 12:07

Any maclarens in particular? The only difference I know of is some are small with small wheels and others are a lot taller. I had the xlr with a carrycot when DS was small but he grew out the carrycot at 5 weeks so he was just in the seat part lying flat. The xlr was tall though, a bit too high for me at 5ft 2 and also it was too long to fit in the boot of my corsa when folded.
