Bugaboo Cameleon or Joolz Day

AprilShowers15 · 26/01/2015 16:40

We really like the Bugaboo Cameleon Navy and Joolz Day Tailor.
They both come in at about the same price and out of the 4 we loved these were our favourites.
My main issue with the Joolz is lack of storage and my main issue with the cameleon is how low the seat is

There is a new version of the joolz out now. It wasn't available last November when I needed to buy the pushchair. The joolz was the first pushchair I feel in love with..... But .... After a lot of thought it just didn't work for me. The small storage out me off and the fact it was covered would annoy me. Also, air tyres are a pain. The pushchair that I went for and absolutely love and firmly recommend is the uppababy vista. The bassinet is lovely and the wheels are chunky and there is masses of storage. In fact they just brought out a new version this year too which I missed out on.

And uppababy has high seat like joolz

AprilShowers15 · 26/01/2015 17:12

Sleepyhoglet, the new Vista was top of our list, but the new one felt very heavy to push which annoyed me because I really loved it and it's huge basket.

How do they compare weight wise? If you aren't keen in the uppababy then I would for for the chameleon. I was attracted to the joolz for it's appearance but have since seen pushchairs and thought oooooh is that a joolz when in fact it's just a mamas and papas or other own brand. Yes I am a bit snooty!

I am so glad I didn't go for a stokke. They look ridiculously pretentious and difficult to get around. I occasionally use the bus and haven't had any issues with my uppababy. Love it!

Sleepyhoglet · 26/01/2015 19:30

The uppababy is so practical too. I bought a Moses basket but haven't bothered as the bassinet fits neatly inside the Moses basket stand. Personally I hated the hand operated brake on some pushchairs- think this included bugaboos

I was looking at both Joolz and Cameleon but went for ICandy in the end, I wanted a high seat as DH is 6ft 4 and it comes with these riser bits that you can put both the seat and cot on, really pleased with it

MaraThonbar · 26/01/2015 20:29

I love my joolz. A friend has a vista and side-by-side the joolz seat is higher - the only pram I've seen that's higher than the joolz is the xplory. Living in a very nappy-valley area it was also quite nice to push something that wasn't a bugaboo. The lack of storage hasn't bothered me but if you need to be able to store more than a few bits then it isn't for you.

MaraThonbar I can't really think what else I'll need besides my changing bag at first, was considering the XL bag thing aswell Incase I'm out shopping

We had the chameleon and I loved it ( mine too old for buggy now). The basket being huge is great in summer as you can pile entire family picnic inside and blanket :), when older it's handy to throw everyone's coats in etc when cold day turns warm. I never actually had a changing bag though, and think a large bag on handle would be a pain! Just put nappies in handbag.
The cameleon carrycot and seat and also bigger than most. When ds2 was newborn, ds1 was 15 months. I could fit baby in laying down, and sit ds1 at my end with legs either side of baby.

Sleepyhoglet · 26/01/2015 22:18

They are all gorgeous prams! I did visit mamas and papas and john lewis about 4 times each to try the buggys. I folded them, put stuff in the basket, pushed them around etc!!

AprilShowers15 · 27/01/2015 07:53

Sleepyhoglet i think I'm going to pop into JL tomorrow or friday and have another go at the Uppababy and an Icandy.

April my Earth edition came with a change bag which hooks niftily onto the frame. have you seen one in RL?

Sleepyhoglet · 27/01/2015 14:22

The other thing about the joolz (just minor) was my worry that the faux leather might get worn or chewed by teething toddler! I did love the grey in the quilted handle though as I'm a very muted colours sort if person.

Sleepyhoglet · 27/01/2015 14:23

I can't remember if the joolz stands up on its own when folded but j love that with my uppa baby I I can fold it (with or without seat) and it doesn't need to rest against a wall.

AprilShowers15 · 27/01/2015 17:41

Mara the nappy bag and footmuff comes with the pram in the colours you pick (Probably all black with old pink handle and bumper), we saw it in my local pramcentre for 940 and it's meant to be 999!! Really love it but worried about the small basket

Personally I wouldn't buy a joolz (that's mainly a taste thing, it's just too big in my opinion) however I do own a joolz xl bag. Have used it on all sorts of pushchairs and it's totally my must have accessory.

If the new Vista feels heavy with no child in it that's not great news. I think the joolz and the cam have a really different feel. Of the two the cam would be my choice, I had a gecko for years and it was great to push. Now though I would be going with one of the smaller, more lightweight options, the easywalker mosey or new mini, maybe an armadillo flip. The baby jogger city versa is still an excellent option too and that has a fairly high seat.

AprilShowers15 · 27/01/2015 22:27

Ihateparties we live next to muddy trails and cycle paths and babies dad is a keen mountain biker so would like to take baby to competitions he is in. I asked about the Arnadillo XT in M&Ps but they never told me much so worried it won't be in for April

Also I couldn't justify the price in he end! That's despite the fact my mum was happy to buy anything up to £1000 and enjoyed the fact that the uppababy does everything the others did but at a much better price.

Artandco · 27/01/2015 22:31

Tbh I wouldn't get any of the above if you want an off-road buggy for mud trails

Try the mountain buggy or nipper v3 or baby jogger elite all 3 wheeler

Or maybe mutsy or easy walker for 4 wheeler

Sleepyhoglet · 28/01/2015 14:41

I've got a second hand phil and teds for off road and keep my uppababy for city shopping
