Babyjogger Deluxe Carrycot 2014

We have decided to get the BabyJogger Citi Mini GT for our newborn when she arrives and are trying to decide between the Compact CarryCot and the new Deluxe 2014 CarryCot. We like the look of the bigger, cosier Deluxe Carrycot, especially for a winter baby (ours is due in January) but are unable to find any shops near us (London) that stock it, and are are reluctant to spend the money without seeing how it works/fits. Does anyone have the Deluxe CarryCot with the Citi Mini GT and are they happy with it? Is it harder to fit on/take off than the Compact one?

Bumping thread

@mummyZ2
You do not have to remove the seat fabric to attach the carrycot however it will be lighter overall and easier to reach the basket if you do remove it. It takes 5 mins to take off but if you think you'll be swapping use between lo1 and lo2 often then leave it on.

Oh yeah and i never did hear back regarding carrying the delux carrycot by the hood handle with baby in it. I have done it and it seems very sturdy but do this at your own risk unless you have better luck with a definite answer from Baby Jogger customer services.

Anyone know of someone selling a second hand but in good condition deluxe carry cot for City Mini?

I just don't see the sense of buying a brand new one for use of 3/4months.

I'm based in london can collect. Thank you x

Moggle, love your carrycot photos, your DD is quite scrummy!

A question: how do you fold the pushchair when the seat part isn't on? As the strap is ib the seat fabric isn't it?

Just about to order our GT and deluxe carrycot, had a look at the compact carrycot in John Lewis the other day and it's nasty cheap looking! Baby due in October, so need something cosy and snuggly to get us through winter!

rumbuba · 21/06/2015 20:56

Lalalemon, the fold strap is separate from the seat fabric. You have to take it off with the seat fabric then put it back on again. You do need to take the carrycot off before folding though Smile

hi,
can I ask a question, seems like this is the best thread to do it on so I hope some of you are still around!
I've emailed baby jogger but not had a response, however given again this thread I know you'll know the answer.
with the seat cover not on the frame, (with the carry cot installed as in the pictures) how easy is it to collapse the frame? i'm about to purchase the pushchair, and I want the Deluxe carry cot to use exactly as you've shown it, but I am nervous about collapsing the frame without the seat cover, and it looks so much neater as you've photographed it. plus I've heard the Deluxe is a tight fit with the seat cover in place at the same time.
please can you advise?
thanks x

sorry sods law isn't it that the post directly before mine gives me the answer xxx

I have a city mini, and if it is as previous poster said re. folding strap being separate to seat cover (and I have no reason to think this is untrue, I've just never taken cover off), then due to where it is located you would need to remove the carrycot every time you wanted to fold the frame.

But that would be the same for all prams with separate carry cots. They aren't made to fold in half.

I've just been looking into this myself in the last day or so, particularly as I would want to remove the seat cover (it just looks neater) and the carrycot doesn't seem to collapse so you would need somewhere to store it. I have a 4W City Mini, so am tempted to look for a soft baby snug thing to just sit in the pram while it is fully reclined rather than use a proper carrycot. They really aren't in them long (with our old pram I think DS used his once or twice for full day trips but he wanted to be able to see out and it was useless for that) and so I am reluctant to spend £100+ (even £50 second hand) and have to store the damn thing after a couple of months.

Last thought, in my experience, the car seat adaptors were far more useful than a carrycot.

moggle · 17/04/2016 22:30

Aww my little baby!! She's 17m now and was sitting in the carrycot the other day, when my SIL returned it from being used for our niece :-)
KP86 my other SIL got a city mini on our recommendation and her baby is in a snug thing in the pushchair. She looks lovely and cosy in there and is a big girl so I don't think they would've got much use out of a carrycot. We moved to the pushchair at 5m.

KP86 · 17/04/2016 22:34

Moggle, do you know what it's called?

moggle · 17/04/2016 22:57

Sorry no - I've just looked at a FB pic and I think it's actually just a headhugger thing after all rather than a soft carrycot type thing. Something like
Cuddle Soft Baby Body Support (Grey) [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007DETPRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_xAafxbB0804MD this]]

moggle · 17/04/2016 22:57

I mean this

abasu · 15/07/2016 21:14

Hi can anyone help please, I am looking to buy the city mini jogger GT and the delux carrycot. I have seen that you can take the main pram seat off to put the carrycot on but when I tried it in the shop they didn't think there was a way to close the pram frame without the main seat fixed on, as you need to pull from the handle fixed to the centre of the seat. Seems a shame and that you would have to leave the frame open unless the main seat is on?
thank you

Hufflepuffin · 15/07/2016 21:46

The shop was wrong, the strap is separate and threads through the seat cover.

Bobsingh · 18/03/2017 12:15

Can you use this deluxe to sleep in overnight? Or what's the rough maximum time?

rumbuba · 21/03/2017 16:39

Bobsingh we used it overnight when on holiday for a couple of nights and our baby slept fine. If you want to use it at home instead of a crib I would suggest getting a mattress made for it.

Percephone · 16/07/2017 09:21

Can anyone who has one of these please tell me how high it is when attached to the City Mini GT?
