Mamas & Papas Kato2 vs Silver Cross Pop?

Hi there, we need to get a run-around, umbrella fold buggy for the nursery run (they have just slapped a ban on anything else going in their storage sheds) and that we can also use on holiday.

We've seen these two, the Silver Cross is currently £100 at Mothercare (doesn't include rain cover) and the M&P is on offer for £60 (including rain cover)

DS is 8mo so we need something that still has a lie flat option and these seem to fit the bill but we're undecided between the two. What do you think?

The silver cross one does come with a rain cover.

YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 13:59

Does it? We were told it was an extra in the shop and it only came with the usual hood. That's good to know!

Do you have one?

How about the babyzen yoyo?

Def more expensive but fold tiny enough to go as hand luggage when travelling, or fits by feet on bus etc. And would take up little space in car if full of other stuff.

Oh and new babyzen yoyo 0+ is from newborn parent facing if you may have more. Otherwise the older 2012/13 models are starting to appear on eBay

YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 14:29

We already have a bugaboo bee, which we love and plan to keep using for general outings, so I'm looking for something cheaper (although I do like the look of the yoyo).

The only reason we need one for nursery is because some parents refuse to fold their massive donkey and just shove it into the shed, taking so much space others can't get in. A blanket ban on anything other than umbrella folds has been instigated.

Hmm, I would be tempted to show them the bee and how it folds and state it's as small as many umbrella folds. Bee is perfect for travel also. So saves buying another.

If you had a large travel system I could understand but bee folds small anyway. Just make sure you fold it when it's left

Maybe get a decent sling also? Could you sling him to nursery? Take a look at boba 4g. You an use now all through to late toddler. Great at airports where you won't get pram back half the time until luggage belt

YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 14:58

I tried the 'but look how small it goes!' thing but no joy. It's a new manager so I wonder if she's out to flex her muscles a bit. Rather than ask/remind parents to fold and put them in the sheds considerately she's just banned anything not umbrella.

In our area bugaboos, Quinnys and icandys are v popular so quite a few of us need to get new ones. It's a lovely little nursery (usually v accommodating to parents) but slightly too far to carry DS or pop back home to dump the bee on my way to work. Sigh!

Hmm, how far from nursery to work? Could you take pram empty to work and leave folded at work somewhere

YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 15:04

I have a 5 min walk to the tube then a 30 mins nose-in-someone's-armpit journey followed by another 5-10 min walk to the office.

I really think we have to bite the bullet and just get a reasonably cheap buggy that does the job and can be chucked on a plane for hols.

Have you thought about getting a second-hand Maclaren? We have a Quest, which is great for hols. I think the Techno XT lies flat, maybe even the newer model Quests too.

Artandco · 21/09/2014 15:17

Have you looked on 'precious little ones?'

Just had a look and loads between £50-100 mark. Maybe take a look and see what you like

Artandco · 21/09/2014 15:19

Joie brisk looks quite good

YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 15:23

No, but I'll take a look. We have a deadline of 1 Oct. although I'm not sure what they'll do if a rogue bugaboo is in there on 2nd!

OP posts:
YoniMitchell · 21/09/2014 15:25

Ooh, the brisk does look like an option.

Imo the joie nitro is good (someone on my road has one that I see all the time and it still looks really new) someone also has a brisk and it's a lot bulkier. The only umbrella fold I have is a joovy groove and if I was forced to use one I would probably pick that because the seat is big, the hood is big and it has ball bearing wheels and all wheel suspension so it's slightly nicer to push than the average umbrella fold.
