Buggy board help needed please - Lascal or Bugaboo?

I am expecting DC2 and have a Bugaboo Cameleon. I've been looking at buggy boards and the Lascal maxi seems to be recommended by a lot of people - I'm not very keen on any of the colours it comes in but not much I can do about that! Aesthetically I prefer the look of the Bugaboo buggy board, but some of the reviews I've read say it is hard to walk properly with it as it's quite long?

If anyone has any experience of the Bugaboo board and can reassure me that it's ok or give me advice on which of the 2 to get I would really appreciate it. I'm happy to go with the most practical option as I don't have any experience using buggy boards.

I have a bugaboo cameleon and have the lascal one it fits great. I can walk normally etc.

Sorry, no experience of the bugaboo branded one.

Thanks TravellingToad, it's good to know that it doesn't affect how you walk. That's my main concern really so should probably just go with the Lascal one!

If walking is your main concern then the maxi is your best bet. The bug one is a more seamless fit, less faffy, smoother but not amazing to walk behind.

Thanks Ihateparties, I am trying not to be swayed by looks and concentrate on practicality (for once in my life). Sounds like there are pros and cons to the Bugaboo board but I can imagine not being able to walk behind it easily would get annoying for me. I'm not sure how often I will be out and about on my own with baby plus toddler but will be useful to have the option as I'm not buying a double.

There is a new bugaboo board due, this one, which may possibly be a slightly different shape. It's difficult to tell.

When I had a gecko (so no extending handle) I had a bug board and wouldn't have had anything else even though I had to walk off to the side rather than behind. I imagine it's better in the cam if you're the right sort of height that you can pull the handle right out.

On all my many other pushchairs I have always used lascal boards, the mini and maxi, and been happy. I think the single wheel means the bug board is lighter to push if that's a consideration.

We used the bugaboo board and found it fine. I think it would be better as made to fit, one wheel means you an walk to side and not have to stretch over if short, and it clips on and off in seconds and fits in basket. Also Folds up out the way whilst attached if in first two reclines ( if sat up fully and parent facing need to unclip to be out the way properly- obv fine if forward facing)

Ihateparties · 16/09/2014 14:38

In terms of clipping on and off and up out of the way the lascal is just as good imo, this has reminded me of the elastic thing my bug board had, which was more faff than the lascal equiv. Fitting the lascal initially is more faff, the anchor things are likely to mark your frame but once they're in place you clip in on and off as easily as the bug one.

I would still get the bugaboo one if it was me, I prefer the actual board and how it pushes. The maxi isn't bad on that front, it just isn't quite as good.

Really appreciate everyone's advice, thankyou. Following the last couple of comments I think I might order the Bugaboo board and try it on my pushchair - can always return it if I try it in the house first and don't use it outside. I like the idea of the new Bugaboo board with the seat in the photo, but I think I read somewhere it's going to be around £100?! Not sure if that's confirmed though and I might have got it wrong.

The twoo seat has been available for years to add to bugaboo seat though. The above looks like that

Twoo seat www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00A9NK4VI?pc_redir=1409248123&robot_redir=1

But if you add that coat to seat the new one is probably cheaper :)

TwoLittleTerrors · 16/09/2014 21:28

I have the lascal mini and with the carrycot I couldn't walk normally. I guess it would be better if it has a non reclined seat. It is a pain and I would use a double buggy if it's not so expensive to buy one!

We have the bugaboo board and Twoo seat. I would recommend that combination..

I tried the Bugaboo board on a Cameleon in John Lewis this week and was happy with the ease of attaching/removing it as well as walking. I can see why you have to walk very slightly to the side but it wasn't an issue for me when I tested it. So think I'm sold on that over the Lascal, thanks to all who gave advice!
