Pushchair for very big 2 year old ?

Hi, i'm looking for a pushchair for my 2 year old boy, he's not tall (only 34inches) but he weighs 49/50lbs! as you can imagine he is incredibly chubby/plump which makes it hard to find him a pushchair, I can find ones which have a high enough weight limit but he's too large to fit in most of them and on others the harness doesn't fit around him. Anyone who knows of any pushchairs that would be available for him will be very much appreciated. Thanks x

If you look on the US site you can see the same pushchair is valid up to 30kg rather than 17kg...

maybe they are manufactured differently in the US ?

Or maybe they just do more in depth testing?

I have to ask - does your ds physically not fit in the stroller anymore or are you looking simply because he has passed the weight barrier recommended?

Nope they just test them to different standards! They are imports been around in the US for years.

In the UK the British Standard just been they are tested up to 17kgs.

The pre 2014 Baby Joggers have massive harnesses. You just have to undo them all properly and fully.

UK pushchairs are only tested up to 15kgs unless the manufacturer wants to pay more money for higher weight testing. Why pay for more testing when your product can go on sale at 15kgs. Easywalker test to higher weights, as do Phil & Teds. However a good number of the leading brands make their pushchairs similar in the US to here (we have different safety standards on fabrics and stricter tipping tests), thus looking at the US max capacities gives you a good indicator of the pushchairs capability - although it is still your responsibility.

I reckon your best bet is a mountain buggy, I have used them since my eldest was 1, ( now 9) and they're pretty much indestructible , I'm using it for my 10 month old at the min, but pushed my 7 year old in it the other day when she got a blister, holding the 10 month old, I'd guess that was over 5stone, and my 9 yr old car physically fit in it, tho I haven't actually pushed her in it obviously.. He will be fine in one....

Yeah, look at a second hand bjcm. Ours is 2012 and the straps are massive. My tall and heavy three year-old has loads of room left in the harness (and of course most two year-olds have a pushchair). Your DS will probably stay around the same weight for ages now he is active again and eventually his height will catch up with his weight.
