Help!

I have inherited a jane slalom pro, ds is 12 weeks and we've dug out the seat (currently using the carry cot) to find out the fabric for the hood is awol.

It's going to cost £70 to get replacement sent. Friends have a new baby jogger, got it for £300. Am I throwing good money after bad trying to upgrade an old pram?! (I wouldn't necessarily buy the Baby jogger)

On one hand I love the stability of the jane... but on the other the fold is HUGE!

What's your day to day life like? Is the slalom practical for what you use it for? If so then I bet you can get the part on eBay cheaper than £70.

If it's not that suitable for what you do then I would replace but that needn't be with brand new if you don't want to, there are a lot of very lightly used pushchairs around on the used market.

I've been looking on e bay for the part and not having a lot of luck- I can buy a whole jane buggy for less than the replacement but that seems a bit silly! (Have thought about it!)

The Jane suits parts of our life for sure. I am quite active so I like how robust it is walking. But we live in London and it feels huge hopping on the bus for example! Also we rarely put it in the car because it's so big... but eventually I'm going to struggle to have him in thr sling so think I would want to take the buggy more often.

I've been round it so many times it's driving me insane!! I'll write a list of pros and cons!

I have your pram its amazing for our lifestyle we live next to a HUGE forest, two dogs, the school run is off road it flys over most things and doesn't feel like I'm pishing it. When we venture out of the village Wink we take the cheap buggy we bought. The front brake is now doesn't work and DH has given up on sorting it now (a common problem) and the buggy board is shit I used it once had to walk like a cowboy so poor DC2 had learn to walk great distances, I have abused the pram on our many walks needed at points has had no effect. the hood on the pushchair part has started to sag but I love it when we go out though have been eyeing up a summit the tyres are all removable and can be packed very small when using the car seat. If we lived in a city I wouldn't have it far to wide for nipping in and out of shops.

Sorry about any spelling mistakes I'm dyslexic and tired

Round here, you can find at least 10 good quality prams/pushchairs/travel systems at the local car boot for less than £20.

The second hand market is flooded. There are so many that the price of second hand prams is ridiculously low.

My travel system is on it's last legs. But given that I know I could go out and have my pick of several second hand, good quality prams at a week's notice means that I am not bothered about the fact that my pram could give up the ghost anytime.

Thanks for the replies. Boris- I do love how robust it is but you're right it's awkward in shops and cafes.

Think I'm going to get it fixed and pick up a second hand city pram and still have spent less than a bugaboo Grin
