Double Dilemma (how original!)

DS will be 24 months when DS2 arrives in November and I am in total confusion as to what to do for the best with regard to a double pushchair. We currently have an Uppababy Vista which I absolutely love, and my original plan was to keep this for when I just have one of them with me (DS1 will stay in nursery at least one day a week while I'm on maternity leave), and maybe using in combination with a buggy board for toddler/sling for baby for shorter outings and nursery pickups etc. I was then planning on getting a cheap second hand double for longer walks and days out with the two of them.

I've looked at the BJCM Double, which seems the most comfortable (DS1 is currently a very good napper, and if at all possible I want to do everything I can to continue to encourage this!) but is also very wide and I don't think would even fit through our front door/hallway so would that end up driving me crazy? Also the Out n About Nipper 360 (a bit narrower but I've heard the seats aren't that comfortable for a toddler - I haven't actually seen one 'in the flesh' though) and Mountain Buggy Duet (more expensive and fewer of them around second hand). But would I get fed up with any double due to the width? I spent a lot of my first maternity leave walking into town and mooching round shops so don't want to limit myself too much.

I've also looked at the Phil and Teds, which seems fine except that the top seat (when a newborn is in the cocoon underneath) doesn't recline and I'm afraid DS1 won't be able to nap. This is becoming a bit of a dealbreaker in my head, but maybe I'm being totally unrealistic in my hazy imaginings of being able to steal half an hour in a cafe while both of them are asleep!

OR, I'm just starting to wonder whether we should sell the Vista after all and get a new Oyster Max. It seems easy to adapt if I've only got one of the DC with me, and has several configurations which may allow comfort for both DC at the same time as not being too wide. But will I end up really missing my Vista?

I'm not really bothered about any off-road capabilities, nor size of fold.

Oh wise MN pushchair experts, can you please advise?

Thanks!

If you switched to an oyster max I don't see why you would miss your vista, especially as it sounds like you will have both children with you most of the time. The basket though... If you make full use of the vista basket you would have to figure out some add ons maybe because the max basket is next to useless in double mode.

I had a 24 month gap, we had (in order) a hauck duett (useless in than baby can't lie flat with second seat on plus heavy to steer), an easy x rider buggyboard on a britax b agile with carrycot (great but awful to walk behind and too rattly for longer trips) a britax b dual (very nice, too wide to fit beyond the front hall of our house), an Icandy peach 1 (lovely, easy to push, both seats recline etc. Toooooo shiny but I can live with that) then finally a jane twone. Which was my favourite. We did also briefly have a duet, I found it okay but tandems still more practical for us really.

If you like your vista a b dual might not be such a bad choice as it has many shared components, the frame is basically the same. The seats aren't though so I guess it depends what you like about the vista!

Thanks Ihateparties, that's really useful info. Sorry not to reply sooner but I've been nursing a poorly toddler for a couple of days.

News just in is that I've actually just managed to get a secondhand B Dual from an FB group for 140 (the frame's a bit scratched but otherwise it's absolutely fine), so on that basis can keep the Vista anyway. I'm hoping that should cover most bases, but won't be disastrous at that price if we have to rethink after a couple of months.
