bugaboo bee or uppababy cruz?

Hi all - I am looking for a light, portable pushchair and have narrowed down to the bee and the uppababy cruz. I have read loads about the bee and have had several recommendations. However after seeing the Cruz I like that the baby is higher up, there is a carrycot option, sunshade and larger shopping basket. Has anyone here bought the Cruz and happy with it? It seems like I see the bee everywhere and this is clouding my decision. Is it really that good? I feel like it's a little rickety to handle and your baby is quite low down (I'm fairly tall at 5'8") but it seems so popular.

The bee3 has a separate carrycot, firmer frame, a couple of other improvements and an increased price tag over the bee +.

The bee folds with the seat on either way, which the Cruz doesn't, that's quite a big thing is certain circumstances. I have heard the bee suspension is more forgiving than the Cruz so it might be cushier and possibly a little easier to push.

There's also the Icandy raspberry, that offers a very similar set of features to the bee.

Thanks ihateparties - I didn't know about the raspberry, seems like it's only coming out around now, will find out when John Lewis expects to stock it.

Hi, I came down to exactly the same two options.

It was a tough choice but I went for the Bee for these reasons:

  1. I'm a shorty and the Cruz felt too big/tall for me (won't apply to you!)

  2. Didn't like the handle bar on the Cruz - it rattles a bit, almost like it's not clicked into place properly (but it is), and the button in the middle makes it harder to push one handed.

  3. I thought the Bee would last longer ie would work well as a toddler stroller as well as a baby pram.

  4. Bad report on Cruz suspension.

By the way, the bee feels less rickety with an actual baby in it, and the heavier your baby gets, the less rickety it feels.

I'd also consider the Cameleon - I think it's got a lot of the best of both the Bee and the Cruz. I didn't go for it only because I hated the brake - it was very stiff and hurt my fingers to use it - but most people don't seem to have this problem! It doesn't have the fab basket of the Cruz admittedly but it also doesn't have the handle/suspension problems of the Cruz.

Hi OP, I have the Cruz and it's a great pushchair for us. This is despite the rickety handle (which you don't notice after a while) and the suspension isn't that bad unless you're doing the buggy equivalent of off-roading! I chose the Cruz after having a bee as the seat is higher, I found it easier to remove & put on the seat (push 2 buttons where you grab at the sides and just lift), the basket was one of the biggest, and for the sunshade hidden in the hood which is handy when DS is sleeping.

My only negative is that it's permanently in "sitting" position....the seat doesn't go totally flat. Doesn't seem to bother DS and he was in it from 5m+, but for our next child (planned in a year or two) we will buy the pram/cot attachment.

HTH!
