Do I need a double buggy?

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice on double buggies. My DD will be 2.10 in October when my new baby arrives. Currently she can go a reasonable time walking but regularly gets tired out of nowhere and needs to go in the buggy. This plus my irrational fear of managing a walking DD, newborn and all paraphernalia makes me think a 2nd hand double (BJCM/mountain buggy/nipper 360) would be the way to go - even if temporary. I'm having an ELCS and have a bad back so slings aren't necessarily an option.

Thoughts and experiences would be gratefully received, thanks.

I've been full circle with double buggies... wasn't going to get one as wouldn't need it for long, got one as toddler was refusing to walk anywhere and it was too hot to carry baby in sling and now back to buggy for baby with a buggy board for toddler.

The disadvantage of buggy board rather than double buggy is obviously you can't use it to confine the toddler if they are being difficult and you just need to get somewhere, and they need to carry on standing up so can still get tired. However, I found my double buggy such a tank that the buggy board with buggy combo works far better for my nipping into town lifestyle. of course it might just be I made a rubbish choice of double buggy based partly on hating the ones where one child seems to be slotted in the basket underneath as an afterthought

Oh, and make sure it fits in through your front door if you do get a side-by-side double. Trust me, there is nothing as joyous as needing to decant sleeping children and then lug tank-like buggy in on getting home...

I would. You don't want to be dawdling with a toddler in the winter while being tired from looking after the baby.

I kept the phil + teds until. DS was 4.6 and DD was 2.8. He didn't sit in it so much but it was great for shopping and grumpy days. FWIW he has a great 33 minute parkrun PB at the age of 7, so extended buggy time hasn't done him any harm.

Do you want one side-by-side or on top of the other? A friend of mine has a side-by-side one (not sure of the name) and they wouldn't let her on the bus! Not a problem with my peach2.
