One handed/handlebar lightweight pram with decent brakes

We would like to buy a new pram which meets all the following criteria:

• lightweight but sturdy
• small width and length (to go on trains/buses etc)
• able to steer and manoeuvre one-handed (for example, with one handlebar that goes all the way across)
• brakes that are fairly robust (we seem to break our pram brakes!)

Any tips/recommendations?

I know we need to go an test ride some but there don't seem to be that many lightweight with a handlebar.

Really grateful for any tips.

Can you define your version of small width and length please? I'm obsessed with narrow pushchairs, narrow to me is 53cm or less, ideally plenty less. Length I'm not so bothered about personally, dunno why.

I don't know what sort of budget you have but the babyzen yoyo fits the bill, as does the mountain buggy nano and recaro easylife. None of these are particularly cheap. I don't know specifics about the brakes either.

I have a red kite zumi and a babyhome emotion, the zumi is the closest thing to small, light, narrow, robust but fully functioning that I could find (I've been through an awful lot of things to find it) that is also genuinely reasonably priced. The emotion is the one for me but i brought it over from Spain 4 years ago, although you can get them on amazon and various other European sites realistically most people don't take that route.

Out n about nipper is very light and one handed steering. Size wise. Not so sure. Seems compactish!

We have a nipper 360 already, it much too long and wide on commuter trains, that's why I want a smaller one. And the brakes have been replaced 3-4 times. Baby joggers, even the minis, are still pretty big too.

Ihateparties we are looking for small in terms of length and width. I've googled the ones you suggested, but would really like to try them out first so will be looking for stockists.

I have a mamas and papas urbo2 and love it. It's compact (I think - compared to my others) and I think it's fairly lightweight as I can carry it one handed while carrying baby. Definitely sturdy and able to steer one handed.
