Double pushchairs

When my baby arrives my son will be 2.5 years old. Would a buggy board do or would it be better to get a double pushchair?

Id go for a buggyboard but I can only say that based on my 2.5yo. Itll probably be even each way. What is your 2.5yo like on foot can they manage decent distance, dothey run off, will they need to nap in the buggy?

MrsMarigold · 17/06/2014 22:59

2.5 should be able to walk - I wouldn't bother. Do you have a car or do you walk everywhere?

I bought buggy board forts but quickly changed to double buggy. Saved my sanity. Older DD loves riding with her baby bro x

I have a 3 yr age gap, and had a tandem double. Dc1 was too tall for me to use a buggy board with, and still napped in the day when dc2 was born. Dc2 was born in October, and the double was very handy for getting dc1 to nursery on cold, wet, dark mornings.

Whole lotta variables imo, what's your gut feeling at this point?

JuniperTisane · 17/06/2014 23:08

I found that DS1 at 2.4 when DS2 was born definitely still needed his own seat, by 2.8 or 2.9 he was mostly using the integral buggyboard instead and now at 3.8 only occasionally uses that so we are finally about to sell our Twofold (sob).

Only you know how he is, agree with IHateParties, go with your gut feeling. Someone else told me to think of a double as renting two seats for a while, when you come to sell it you will get nearly all your money back, because second hand doubles/tandems are always in demand and most of them are in good condition owing to them only having been used for a short time.

yes to this

I bought mine on eBay and sold it the following year for £7 less than I paid.

Ha ha my DS sounds like your DD Miaow lol

Since posting this, reading your comments and a very difficult trip to the shops with DS without the pushchair I have decided a double pushchair is a must. I just don't think I'd be able to go anywhere and trust DS won't have a melt down or run off and I just can't be dealing with that & a newborn. I'd loose my sanity lol

Thanks all for your input you have help me confirm my thoughts Smile
