solution for the smallest boot in the world??

can anyone help, I have a Suzuki Splash (same as the newest Vauhall Agila). I need a pram to fit in the pathetic excuse for a boot (roughly w100, d45 and h60 ish) nothing must have to go in the car as i have other children so i need to fit it all in the boot.

As far as I can see, my only logical option is a zapp xtra (possibly the 2). I'd like a car seat with a base too as we live rurally and have to drive everywhere and so for school runs etc it'll be handy to throw the car seat between the in car base and the chassis.

Downside to the zapp: i'd really like a carrycot, but I am considering a larger 'proper' pram to keep at home which i could then fit in when i don't have the older kids to ferry about (I still have DD's Bebecar Stylo somewhere).

am i thinking straight here, have a missed anything- anyone any better ideas... Other than telling me to buy a new car (I know 4 kids and a tiny car is daft lol!)

No no no, tiny cars are the way forward Grin

A bugaboo bee would probably fit, a loola 2 might, a jane cross r or a jane solo r. Those type of folds would fit in my boot (i10) which is a very similar size and shape to yours. Smaller actually as height nor depth is over 45cm in my boot, it might be marginally wider than 100cm but not by much.

Actually... If you have 60cm in one direction then a baby jogger versa would go in as it's 57ish wide and 25 ish deep, possibly slightly less. Bugaboos are 60cm wide with wheels on (50 with them off) the uppababy Cruz is 56cm, or maybe less. The babystyle oyster 2 is 56cm, the joie chrome is 57. Maybe a graco evo too.

You probably have quite a lot of choice really, if you fancy a carrycot then it might be nice to have a lie flat seat and a carrycot you can use the seat with all the dcs in the car and the carrycot when not.

thank you- i am glad you like small cars! i only got it 3 months ago (before the double blue lines!) and I refuse to change it!

Looks like i may have more choice than i thought, and at least if i know that some may fit i can go for a trip to a shop without being laughed out of town for even thinking about it lol!

i do keep going back to the zapp because potentially it could fit in the footwell in front of the car seat (you know for times like... ooh, doing the weekly shop, because i can't for the life of me work out where i'd put that if the boot is full, but then if i'm just going to Tesco i could leave the chassis at home and dump the car seat on a trolley or use my wrap sling i guess)

oh, and further info- I am taking a short maternity leave, i will be mostly working from home once sprout arrives but will be needing to juggle baby and work so no time to leisurely wander over to the supermarket while the kids are at school, so shopping will have to be done with whole entourage at the weekend etc!

I wouldn't bother getting a second bigger pram, you'll never use it even those with big boots all end up buying a second small pram later anyway. The zapp's seat does go quite flat and parent faces so pretty good for a tiny pram.

I have an original 55plate Yaris with a tiny boot - not sure exact dimensions but it's dinky. I had a bugaboo bee in mine fine.

Ihateparties · 17/06/2014 22:21

Hooooold on... I never remember this one but babystyle oyster gem fold is tiny, the chassis is sturdy, it takes a carrycot and it's genuinely compact.

womaninthewildsofwales · 17/06/2014 22:27

oooh, never seen that one!

are those dimensions without having to take everything that isn't bolted on wheels off?

We had the old School ford KA (tiny boot) and my icandy peach jogger fitted in there. Had that pram over 2 years now and not needed to get anything else. But when we were looking the Oyster and zapp were ones we looked at and were considering

I have a Yaris but don't drive a lot, we got a secondhand maclaren which lives in the boot of the car and have a bigger main buggy.

Or get a sling...

Ihateparties · 17/06/2014 22:38

Yes the gem chassis is dinky folded, it's hard to describe how it works, it gets shorter, slimmer and narrower when it folds, where most things that fold in half book style only get shorter and flatter, width remains the same. The bee does this too, it's narrower closed than open without having to take anything off, the bee is boxy folded though, not slim. It would most likely fit though imo.

You could literally have almost anything you like if you're willing to take bits off... For the school run with 3 other kids I was thinking one piece makes the most sense?

womaninthewildsofwales · 17/06/2014 22:42

I have a stretchy sling (well I have a bright pink one so may have to make a less girly one if that's the way it turns out!) and hope to rely on that mainly. I'll try and find one of those Gem's to have a look at- thanks!

oh and yes, one piece is the way to go... i remember the hell of taking wheels off constantly!
