Id personally go for a secondhand branded one if I wanted to keep costs down. Often sellers offer to show the original receipt so you can see they bought it at a "proper" shop or website, so even if you aren't covered under warranty you have some peace of mind.
It will be difficult to deal with any problems - How would you return a faulty new pram if it came from Poland?!

£150 !! No !! Buy a bugaboo like a good little mumsnetter Grin but seriously just go to mothercare or something buying a pram for that price will only end it misery

I would happily have a second hand pram from eBay (do in fact) but for car seats I would insist on new and from a major retailer. Paid £30 for my pram and it is brilliant.

i don't think i'd even buy a 2nd hand pram it would be just as unsafe as a 2nd hand car seat IMO. OP a new travel system like the joie chrome or an Evo only costs like £250 even £300 is a low price to pay for a travel system even if it means skipping buying lots of baby outfits or a nice nursery set etc things you can live without but a pram is the one thing you'll use for 2 years if you choose right 6 months if you choose wrong so choose wisely

I take it you mean the new foreign brand ones rather than second hand?

If so then I know people who've used them for 2 years and had no issues, the brand I'm referring to though is Trekker which is actually a popular Polish brand so not entirely cheaply.

Personally though I wouldn't use the car seats as they aren't very supportive and have little/no side impact protection (of the ones I've seen) and tbh I'd rather pay more from a store for peace of mind.

Stay away from Mother care though as their own pushchairs are diabolical and the customer service is appealing!

I don't see how a secondhand pram could even potentially be as unsafe as a second hand car seat unless you are pushing your buggy at 80mph!! :-)

my friend bought a quinny buzz 2nd hand from ebay the lady selling it told her that she had bought it 2013 when she had actually bought it 2011 and that it was hardly used when she had in fact used it for hiking and walks in the countryside and just hosed the mud off and polished it up. the wheel fell off 2 weeks later and the chassis snapped my friend was left £200 out of pocket i think considering prams are used everyday and vigorously taken in out of cars and on and off public transport etc the frames and wheels can get damaged and people selling them trying to claw back the "resale value" lie about how good the pram is i think buying a 2nd hand pram could be even more dangerous than a car seat as a car seat just sits in a car with the risk of collision making it unsafe where as a pram is out in the open with even more risk of collision with kerbs etc i wouldn't buy either 2nd hand ever.

Secondhand is fine as long as it's local and you can actually inspect it first. We bought an out n about nipper 360 on ebay for £75 :) it's fab and no problems at all. Usually they cost about £300. The seller family just found out they were expecting again. It was in very good condition.

Well worth looking to see what's around!
