BJCMGT or MB Swift?

I'm in Aus and looking for a good off road pram for walking the dog in the park. Mostly on grass and a bit of mud but not much more. We live in a hilly area though and pavements tend not to be flat (they camber? if that's the right word so slope down towards the road.

I have a MB duet which I love and an umbrella stroller which is just not cutting it. I need a pram that can either fit next to the dog (Dalmatian sized) in the boot of my hatch back or go on the front seat. The boot is roomy - I can get the duet in - but I need to be able to stand any pram up on it's side so that it takes up as small a footprint as possible so that it doesn't bother the dog.

I've heard the BJCMGT can be tippy and isn't as good as the swift on rough ground. Any ideas if that's true? It does have a better fold though for the car.

Has anyone tried putting an elder DC on the very front of a MB Swift so that their feet balance on the bar above the wheel? DD does this on the duet sometimes Blush and I was wondering if you could on the swift too.

If anyone is interested I ended up buying a Valco Snap 4 wheeler with the sport pack tyres. :)

That was a quick decision... And I absolutely concur! I have the regular snap (it's branded the red kite zumi in the uk) but also with the sports pack tyres. They fit perfectly, I would have had the snap 4 if it hadn't been so pricy to import and the wheels work perfectly well on the 3. Love it and it's genuinely small and light. Fwiw I did have a swift a couple of years ago and a cmgt more recently, which I did not find at all tippy, I did however find it huge open.

Of the three I have no doubt that the valco/sport kit is my absolute favourite. I used a buggyboard on the snap, the instructions state you aren't supposed to but we had no issues with it.

Oh I'm SO glad parties thanks for posting. How is it over grass? Is it easy to push? I've had some damage to my wrists so need something easy to push on rough ground. Also DD is 3 and likes to hold hands when we walk so a one handed push is great too :)

I couldn't find a single review online about the sports wheels and was feeling quite anxious about it.

I actually bought it because I called a great aussie pram online retailer think prams and asked for their advice. Manager said the swift would be too big in the boot and recommended the valco/sport over the gt. In the end I bought the pram, valco liner, rain cover, mozzie net, and different coloured hood for the same price as just the gt.

The other thing that absolutely sold me was that it was narrower than the GT but a much bigger seat overall.

I don't know exactly what the 4 wheel is like, I also had my 3 and unreliable 6 year old with me when using mine so one handed steering was fairly essential. Oh and I had the buggyboard on pretty much all the time, which always has an effect.

I don't know what the valco fabrics are like, I'm hoping better than the red kite ones but overall coming from a duet it's likely to fall into the "lighter flimsier" sort of category. It won't feel sturdy in the frame like your mb does. This vaguely concerned me at first but loads of great reviews for the snap overseas helped plus of course using it and not having any problems.

We haven't used it recently so I just unboxed it and had my 92cm 13.5kg 2y3m old and 107cm 17kg 4y4m old in. The air wheels are a significant improvement in how well it pushes and seat is indeed massive, I really had forgotten that.

Well.. The seat is definitely roomy and it can't be hard to push as this scenario seemed to be working out fine for them (not so good for my doors and skirting boards though). Grin

:o

Oh that's excellent thank you!

I'm crossing all my fingers that I get it tomorrow and will report back on how I go (so this is searchable for anyone thinking of buying one).
