Question for BJCM users

We have the BJCM GT which we love. DC is three months old abs uses the carrycot at the mo. At what age did you stop using the carrycot? I think DC might be too long for it soon but was hoping to keep using it until 6 months.

I never used a carrycot with my BJCM. I started sitting DS1 up a little bit from about 4.5 months I think. I had a carrycot in the BJCSelect for DS2 and used it til a bit longer as the Select seat is a bucket type.

Thanks for your reply. I think DC might prefer not to be laid down flat all the time, was wondering if I was wrong for considering tilting them up a bit.

I have the BJCM GT double. Dd is 4 months, just stopped using carrycot, she is in main seat now but laid flat. Issues with squishing organs sitting up before 6m if I understand correctly.

I have the BJ versa as a single pram and use the insert from the britax first class car seat to make it suitable by levelling out the dint.

I think the advantage of the strap to adjust the seat back means you can incline it a small amount for when a baby is awake and wants to look around, and put it down when they sleep. If you think a baby looks as if they are 'lost' in the big seat there are lots of head huggers/body supports that can be used with the harness, and inside a footmuff.

The issue is when a baby who can't sit up unaided slumps, their breathing is hampered because the lungs and diaphragm are compressed, so could contribute to SIDS. Lying flat or near flat supports the back and enables easy breathing.

Thank you all, that's really useful to know.
