Toddler plus baby - help required! Britax B-Agile twin?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with DC2, DS will be 2 years and 1 month when DC2 arrives. For DS, we had a Britax B-mobile, chosen because it was one of the few that would fit in my boot, but on reflection it was a bad choice - we have a dog and live in a rural area, and it very definitely not an off road buggy. I had assumed I would use a sling for dog walks, but post-CS and with grumbling SPD, I never got on with slings as much as I had hoped.

However, we have all the Britax travel system accessories - car seat, carrycot cot etc. So I've been looking at the B-Agile twin. It has very good reviews, however it's still more of a town buggy, and I suspect will be even harder to push on rough paths with 2 children in it!

Option 2 would be a buggy board, but I just cannot see DS staying on one! He likes to walk but is a bit of a liability at the moment, and the thought of supervising him, plus baby, plus mad spaniel, is not appealing.

Option 3 - my sister has an Out and About Nipper 360, which she is happy to sell us and is great off road. However, I'm not sure I'd be happy to use it with a newborn - there is no parent facing option, and I don't think the seats go fully flat. Plus it wouldn't be compatible with the car seat, which I have to say was fab when DS was tiny and used to fall asleep in the car. However, maybe I could get round this by using a sling for the baby until he/she was big enough, and stick with what we have? Still doesn't get around the car seat issue though, and if The SPD comes back or I have another CS, I may have the same problem with slings.

Option 4 - DH thinks I should just let DS walk, as he will be over two by then & is keen to walk, using reins if necessary. However, the thought of juggling a 2 year old on reins, a dog on a lead and a baby in a pram, over muddy fields and past rivers, is not very appealing at all! DH never takes DS plus dog out together, except on a weekend when we all tend to go, so not sure he has any idea what it would be like.

Any advice much appreciated! We are on a limited budget and can't really afford any expensive mistakes, which is why we've never replaced the B-Mobile.

If you're taking primarily about rough paths and dog walking then you cannot get better than a nipper imo. Plus you will still be able to push it and hold onto elder child when he is walking, which will probably be necessary for a while. I'm not sure you'd be able to do that with a b agile twin. Dd2 is 2y3m and the most trustworthy of mine but she still needs constant vigilance. Dd1 has only just come round to the idea of really walking everywhere at 4y3m and ds has walked everywhere without comment or complaint since he was just under 3. None of them could have been permanently on foot from their second birthday, they all needed a buggy option at one time or another, some more than others.

There is a nipper carrycot now to fit the double, it may be worth looking into whether it will fit an older model. If it's a v2 then I think there's a chance it will, I'm not sure about really old ones though.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I hadn't thought of looking at accessories for the Little Nipper - my sister bought it 2nd hand when her two were about 9 months and just over 2, so never needed anything. I'll ask her if she knows what model it is later x

Haha if you hadn't mentioned it would never have noticed Grin I will have a look around and see what the situation is with the carrycot and adapters, what models they fit. Oh here we go, their website says v2 and v3, I don't know what year they became a v2 though, sorry.

The v2 Nipper is narrower and has an adjustable handle.

So if it has the adjustable handle it should be fine for the carrycot.

Would your accessories work with the B-dual? I think it's pretty sturdy for of road, certainly compared to my Xplory. Having said that neither of my two will go in the bottom seat

Thanks for the replies.

My sisters model is the old V1 - as far as I can tell the difference is that you can't attach the carry cot, and it hasn't got a bumper bar - is that about right? Does it still go completely flat to make it suitable from birth?

The Britax B-Dual doesn't look like it has great off road capability. Might need to have a look in a shop though.

Also, I've had 3 friends now recommend a Phil & Ted sport. Does anyone have one? Do you know if they are compatible with britax car seats (the website looks like they are not, but someone told me that they don't list all compatible models). Also, not sure about the baby being in the underneath pouch bit - anyone with any experience of that? I like the idea that when DS is fully walking, it could just be used as an off road single, which would be really handy. Also, they seem to be quite cheap 2nd hand, always a bonus!

Are you getting a great deal on the Nipper from your sister? If the carrycot is really important to you would it be worth getting a Nipper v2 with a carrycot on Ebay? Might still be cheaper than getting a Britax B-Agile twin
