Pushchair/cot suitable from birth

Hi,

I am expecting our first baby and we have decided the Pushchair is the first product we want to purchase, however there are so may products out there I have no idea which is the best one. I know that ideally we want the following: faces both ways, suitable from birth (but don't mind if this is a cot attachment), lockable wheels, adjustable handle height, suitable for taking round a park (uneven paths) & in town, but ideally we want it to last, so don't want to buy something again in 12mths. Must be easy to store & close, I.e. You don't need to take it all apart to close.

Anyone have any recommendations or know if a good review site?

Uppababy Vista does all these things, we have one (DD is now 23 weeks) and it's great. It has a separate carrycot attachment, but this is also safe for overnight sleeping so if you wanted you could use it instead of a Moses basket. It's great on uneven terrain, sturdy and lovely to push. Handlebar is adjustable and is fine for my 6ft 2 DH.

Thanks Jessie, at least we have somewhere to start now!

Best Buggy is an excellent review site, the real life pictures can be particularly useful. If you don't want to end up switching in a year or so imo small, narrow, light and folds in one piece whichever direction the seat is facing are the key factors. That's a generalised basic criteria... If you have specific factors like needing something seriously robust for off-road, living on a farm/extremely rurally/dog walking etc. than that would alter things accordingly. The main reasons people give for switching are size, weight and having to take it apart whenever you fold.

On that basis I'm suggesting the easywalker mini or mosey (which is apparently simpler in some aspects of use), bugaboo bee, Icandy raspberry (assuming it's pretty light terrain, neither would suit beyond paths) or possibly a babystyle oyster 2. The parent facing fold is long on that though.

The vista is great but comparatively large. It only folds with the seat on facing forwards. All of this is totally fine as long as you're expecting it. The baby jogger city versa is also excellent and great value, again it is not small or light (although the fold is excellent).

The iCandy Strawberry fits all your requirements, except you have to take off the carrycot to fold it (it folds - and stands up on its own! when it has the seat attached). When the seat's attached it folds regardless of whether it's front- or rear-facing.

We really like it and our daughter slept in the carrycot both day and night until about 6 weeks. She's now 16 months and it has had a tremendous amount of use, and we still use it daily. It held up well and we really like it.

I would also look at the bugaboo bee. Many people change to smaller buggy after 1 year as fist he others too large on buses/ planes/ to store/ in car etc. the ones mentioned above ie bee/ icandy raspberry and easywalker mini would all be suitable until buggy no longer needed

Ihateparties is right, the vista is quite large (very wide at rear wheels) so if you want something small it probably isn't for you. On the plus side, the shopping basket is huge which comes in handy!

Baby joggers are extremely easy to fold, you could look at the versa which seems to meet your requirements.
