BJCM 4 wheels and handling

I recently got a 4 wheel BJCM and took it out for the first time today and wanted to check a couple of points regarding the wheels and handling.

Firstly as soon as I started pushing I could hear a rattle; is that just the ball bearings? The reason I am asking is because the steering seems a bit heavy to me. I could feel it pulling to the left and had to compensate for this.

It seems a bit strange because everything I have read on here led me to believe it was very easy to steer with several people saying it was easy and light to push one handed. I couldn't push it one handed because it was veering off course. At one point I peered round the front to see if the sun was in my son's eyes and wheeled it into my mum [shame]. I'm not the strongest of people but I'm not that weak!

Also, on a related note I was comparing it to the Vista and sometimes it was very nimble and turned in a very tight circle like the Vista and at other times I had to push it back and forth a little to get the wheels going. Is this normal? Is it just a case of getting used to a new pushchair?

On the positive side my son looks so much more comfortable and happy in it than in the Vista. I could never get him to sit right, he seemed to slump and he never looked comfortable when reclined in the bucket seat (might suit him as a toddler better perhaps). The fold really is great and even though it's fairly wide the rear wheels don't stick out so it's easier to get through and past things. I feel a bit less like I'm trying to drive a Range Rover down a fairy path.

I used to have to pop the wheels off to put in the car and I found if I put the front wheels on the wrong way round, it would sometimes stick, really not sure why. Saying that, after thoroughly spraying wheel sockets with WD40, I've not had an issue since :)

Hello, thanks for the reply. I took the wheels off and put them back on just to check, but will do it again to see if they're on the wrong way.

Baby Jogger have said I can send it to them via the shop where I bought it so they can check it. I have no idea if there is something wrong or it is just how it handles though.

I know I definitely can't push it one handed without it veering to the side though which wasn't what I was expecting. It even goes off course with two hands.

IMO that doesn't sound right. Camber can be excused but fairly flat terrain you shouldn't be correcting the steering all the time.

That's good to know it shouldn't be like that. I would expect most pushchairs to be hard work on uneven and sloping pavements, but not for my wrists to be achy trying to keep it right.

I would take it back to the shop. BJCMs especially 4's, are usually very good to handle.

Are they usually pretty light to handle? That is what I thought they should be like, but I thought maybe I was expecting too much. I was watching my mum with it today and she was struggling. I noticed even on straight bits the front wheels were spinning for no reason, not a swivel like when you turn but shaking from side to side.

Doesn't sound right. I have a BJCM4 and it's like pushing a cloud....well, slight exaggeration maybe :) It's lovely to push and easy one handed so yours definitely sounds a bit too temperamental. I'd get it looked at.

Thank you. Going to drop it at the shop when I can get through. Not looking forward to going back to the big pram.

Hello, I got my pushchair back from Baby Jogger on Tuesday and they say it has been checked and they have found nothing but it is still not right in my opinion. Heavy to push around town, and then yesterday we took a walk and I really struggled on uneven pavements and over a gravel path. The pushchair was making a noise when I pushed it and I was constantly correcting it. I'm really unhappy with it, but am now stuck with it.

The shop said no paperwork came back with it and I have had a quite curt reply from baby jogger saying they have found nothing and there is nothing wrong with it.
