Twin stroller for holiday- Maclaren Triumph, Techno or other??

Thinking of getting one for upcoming holiday, for then 3 year old toddler and 8 month old baby. Part of the hol will be in an old town with windy cobbled streets, other half child friendly resort.

All the reviews I've read about the Techno go on about how hard it is to push. I tried it the other day in the shop and it is impossible for me to lift once folded (not necessarily a problem though on holiday as will always be unfolded), and to push up a kerb. I'm short and the high handle bars makes the weight harder to lift when pushing down on them. But worried the lovely light Triumph will not fare well on bumpy cobbled streets.

Any advice anyone?

Personally with those ages I wouldn't take one. Terrible on cobbled streets, and no way to get in shops/ cafes etc.

Take a single pram. Babyzen yoyo if you can get on eBay. It folds tiny and can take on plane as luggage. Take a beco Gemini sling. The sling and pram can be used for either child on your front or back. So when you have lots of stairs put baby in sling, walk eldest and carry pram folded. If out eldest would walk most the time and baby in pram, if eldest gets overly tired swap baby into sling and eldest in pram to sleep, or leave baby and put eldest on one of your backs for a rest.

In resort it's unlikely you will need anything for eldest as they aren't that big and they can rest in room/ sun lounger/ chair. Also prams often aren't welcome in restaurants in resort so a sling will be easier as can walk eldest down to breakfast and sling baby, can go in highchair anyway when eating

I agree with ArtandCo. I don't think they will be ideal on cobbled streets. Babyzen Yoyo or Mountain Buggy Nano - nano is cheaper than Yoyo and folds as compactly and into a carry bag! Good review of babyzen yoyo on buggypramreviews.co.uk/babyzen-yoyo-review/

I would take two singles instead (I have twins and we take singles on holiday), they're just easier. The Triumph is horrendous to push / steer ad I hated it with a passion when we borrowed one.

Hhmmmmm I think you're all right.... pushing a double with just one child in it for some of the time is going to be burdensome.

Let me explain my reasoning for the double... toddler doesn't nap in the day any more but instead has tacked it on to her night time sleep, so goes to bed early at 6pm and does a 14 hour stretch waking up at 8am. She clearly needs the sleep so gets grouchy around 5pm by which time it's too late for a nap.

I am SO looking forward to this hol (practically been a single mum for first 6 months of DC2's life and juggling a toddler) and do not want to be room bound from 6pm, so was hoping toddler would do a late nap in the pushchair. Then we could all freshen up and go down for dinner around 7-8pm. And would need a reclining seat for the baby at this time too as he will most likely want to sleep. I do like wearing him in the moby, but he is a porker and in 35 degree heat neither of us will be comfortable. Instead I am picturing two peacefully sleeping children whilst me and DH have cocktails on the pier at sunset!

Unintentional- I think 2 singles is the answer- so we only take the second one out when toddler needs to nap. Damn, I have just bought a twin triumph on eBay. I would luuurrve a babyzen yoyo... but can't justify the expense just for the holiday. I haven't seen any used ones on eBay either? Maybe they are just too good to sell off.

The YoYo is amazing.....you can't wrestle mine off me ;)

I think 2 singles are your way to go to be honest. I can't stand pushing side by side doubles, and it doesnt sound like you need one all the time anyway.

I WANT A YoYo

Definitely take two singles. The double Maclarens are monsters and a sod to steer with only one child in it.

We rented a double buggy on arrival. It might be worth seeing if you can do it locally?

we have got a graco sport duo for our holiday. 2yo and 7mo. I'm in love with it. we haven't gone yet. but I'm using it all the time. light and easy and pretty narrow. babies look beyond cute all snugges up next to each other. not sure we will get them both sleeping that close to each other though.
