Parent facing stroller for 2 year old that you can take on a plane

I need to get a pushchair that folds in one piece so can take on holiday up to boarding gate. However needs to also parent face when needed.

Does such a pushchair exist? Apart from Bee as too expensive!!

I fly every other month with ds to see my family he has a m&p umbrella fold I got in a charity shop as is only time it gets used and I don't trust the airlines with my good pushchair.

Any reason it has to be parent facing?

What about a baby jogger city versa? Smile It faces both ways, not TOO big or heavy and folds in one piece both ways, my dd probably won't walk until she's two so were taking this on holiday with us when she's 15 months as it's sturdy enough to use all the timeSmile

I'm curious to know why it must be parent facing. Most 2 year olds I know want to see where they are going, and the ones that were sat in parent facing ones kept craning round to see where they were going.

Most push hairs fold with the seat unit forward facing, otherwise the fold would be too large. Normally the back/hood part is designed to fit within the handle space on folding.

What have you got at the moment. To be honest you can hand most buggies in at the door of a plane.

Although we didn't try with our cameleon, just got an umbrella fold for holidays.

It's not parent facing but I saw the new Armadillo in M&P yesterday and it looks FAB! Folds up teeny tiny, light, lovely big seat unit and hood. So much nicer to push than an umbrella stroller. Am very tempted though there is nothing wrong with my Sola......

Oh and the Sola definitely folds in one piece you just need to turn the seat unit round before you fold. But it is way to bulky and cumbersome to take on a plane

My 2 yr old prefers to see me and chat but can still see around him. Otherwise gets whingy. Using mclaren in car at moment.

I saw the Armadillo yesterday and it could be much better. The seating position is so reclined. Not so bad when you sit a child in upright, but if you pull them up from the cavernous recline, then they slouch horribly. My LO was literally hanging by the harness. I had to haul him back up to a better seating position, but he slowly sank again. Horrible!
On top of that the harness buckle has to take my prize for the worst one I have ever seen - worse even than the Nuna Pepp. Talk about a jigsaw puzzle - it must have taken me a good 5 minutes to work it out and piece it together, and then you have to manoeuvre the whole thing into the buckle (without it falling apart or digging it into your LOs tummy - I had to loosen the straps), and if you are lucky you can force it to clip shut without it all pinging open and you having to start again!!! I was in a warm shop trying it out, but IRL you may be in a busy car park with rain lashing down, and an icy wind freezing your hands off whilst your LO arches their back or wriggles!
The harness clip is the same on the Sola City too. I wanted to buy an Armadillo but no way now at all. Absolutely awful decision Mamas and Papas!

Tiggy, so glad you wrote that post. I was in two minds about the armadillo. I've just bought a maclaren techno xt, as I'd decided against the armadillo, but I don't like it either and thought I should bought the other (maybe not now from what you've said). Back to my heavy versa.

Whatevertheweather · 23/02/2014 21:32

Ah glad I read this Tiggy I must admit I didn't look closely at the buckle, at first glance it looked the same as my sola. I didn't get to try my 18 month old in it as she was asleep whilst I was looking. Will definitely go back and investigate the buckle and the recline/sit up positioning. I was looking at it as we are going to disney paris in August and it's likely to be hot and the huge canopy hood appealed to me to keep her shaded without the faff of an add on. Also the small folding position is a bonus. It's much nicer to push than an umbrella stroller too.

Went and had another play with the Armadillo today - buckle is very similar to the Sola so no problems there. DD was a little slouched when I pushed it up from full recline to upright but easily solved with a bit of readjusting. Certainly hasn't put me off buying it
