Phil and Teds - when did you move baby from the lie flat position?

DS is 4 months and starting to run out of room in the lie flat position (Phil and teds Navigaator) due to the toddler seat above. I was fully aware this was likely to happen. So can I swap the seats round and put the toddler underneath and raise up the lie flat seat? Is it ok to have the baby (well supported) on the top seat but in a slightly reclined position?

When did you swap the baby and toddler round?

We managed to make it last until 6 months by not using the cocoon in the baby bit and just strapping him into the harness lying down with his head as high up to the top as possible so just his legs went under the apex of the toddler seat above and his feet slightly stuck out of the front! He's on 95th centile and weighed 19lbs when we changed to toddler/toddler configuration so it can be done!

Not sure how flat you will be able to get the top seat with another sitting underneath - will depend on the size of your older child. I guess it's theoretically possible so worth a go. As for whether it's okay for the baby - how is their head control? You want to avoid their head and neck being flung around too much (bearing in mind they will get tired after a while too so behind able to hold themselves steady for a few mins may not be enough for a longer buggy trip/bumpy ground). Your best bet is probably to give it a try and see. I certainly thought at about 8wks that there was no way we'd make it to 6months with dc2 laying flat but we did!

Oh, but we did have to take the top seat off to get baby in each time once his legs were going under the top seat. A bit of a faff but not too much of a problem as a stopgap solution.

Good luck!

About then, but in the back seat with a little cushion or rolled up blanket behind them. The rain cover never used to cover the back seat in recline but I assume they have sorted that now!

So is the baby meant to go below? Or can they go in either? Perhaps I should have kept the instruction manual!

Yep baby meant to go below. It works better for the balance with the heavier child in the main seat (plus the main seat is bigger).

But I don't think you can recline the main seat much even with the baby below. Having the doubles kit on that is one of the sacrifices I think.

Ps you can get the manual online in the p&t website.

Ok thanks, I'll have a play tonight when the small ones are in bed.

Will also refer to online manual. used to be so organised would never normally throw such useful things out!

My baby is a giant, and also hated the baby section, so I moved her at 4 months (with a head support) to the top seat, with zips undone and put dd1 in the 'submarine' Wink

4 months here too.
