Hello,

I'm a first-time Mum looking for a pram to use from birth but I'm getting so confused by all the brands/models, hopefully you might be able to help. I'm looking for a pram that w. ill...

-l

-let the baby lie flat

-parent facing
-lightweight and easy to steer
-have a bassinet that is suitable for the baby to sleep in on overnight stays.

I walk most places and we have a large car so folding size isn't as important as the factors above.

TIA Smile Smile

iCandy Strawberry?

Tinkertaylor1 · 06/01/2014 15:54

Stokkee!

It's the easiest pram you will ever steer!

It's pricy but we love ours, it also turns in to a high chair fir when eating out!

It's the Optimus prime of trolleys !

Baby Jogger Versa?

jumperooo · 06/01/2014 16:02

Uppababy vista does all of that, especially the bassinet for safe overnight sleeping, our DD slept in hers at night for 4 months. Nicest bassinet and seat out there, in my opinion. They are rated v.highly on Which, tend to be ££ New but there's a few secondhand on eBay at the moment, I've just sold mine!

sebsmummy1 · 06/01/2014 16:03

I have a stokke. I love it BUT there is very little storage unless someone wants to tell me different. You have one large bag that sits on the bottom and then anything else has to dangle from the sides on the bar you can hang toys from. I can only assume it's because I'm expected to have a lackey ambling along behind me holding all my designer shopping bags Grin

Sleetbunny · 06/01/2014 16:03

Thank you so much, I hadn't seen the Stokee or the Strawberry and they both look great. I almost wish there wasn't so much choice!

Baby Jogger City Select.

CrispyCrochet · 06/01/2014 16:07

I agree with jumparoo on the uppa baby vista. Do you have a John Lewis nearby? Ours has the vista there so you can check it out in person.

The overnight sleeping in the bassinette thing is possibly something to rethink. Most basinettes are actually pretty small, so although they may be advertised as safe for overnight sleeping, practically they are only a suitable size for 3-4 months.

Suitable for overnight use is a brilliant bonus for the short time it lasts, but you'll be splashing out on a travel cot before you know it anyway.

Features I loved in my buggy were:

Massive shopping basket
Easy to steer one handed (when carrying extra shopping, baby who decides they don't want the buggy after all, umbrella)
Light
Narrow wheelbase (for getting in and out of shops, buses and pubs)

Also, make sure it fits in the boot of your car! Some are bulky and huge.

Many are 2 part fold. This didn't bother me as I rarely use the car, but it would have annoyed me if I was in and out of the car several times a day.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 06/01/2014 16:18

I got a mamas and papas sola. Although the carrycot / bassinet is extra.

Kelly1814 · 06/01/2014 16:48

The mamas and papas sola here too, tis fab.

LunchLadyWannabe · 06/01/2014 16:50

Babystyle oyster?

Reiltin · 06/01/2014 16:54

Uppababy Vista. It's wonderful Smile

Sleetbunny · 06/01/2014 17:00

Uppababy Vista seems to have the edge, I'll make a trip to John Lewis and try it out. Unfortunately I don't think I can afford a lackey as well as a pram so maybe the Stokkee is out Grin Grin
Thank you again for all your help, I'm feeling slightly less overwhelmed now Thanks

John Lewis also stock the icandy and Baby Jogger ranges so you'll have lots to compare.

Sleetbunny · 06/01/2014 17:24

That's great Nancerama, it's so much easier seeing something in the flesh. Thanks for the heads up about the bassinette, I hadn't realised they would grow out of them so quickly. Which did you go for?

Phil and Ted smart buggy with bassinet

nancerama · 06/01/2014 17:43

I went for the icandy Cherry. I was limited due to the fact it had to fit in the boot of a Mini, and not much does. The limited edition also had a fabulous changing bag (shallow).

I think we used the basinette until 4 months, but the icandy one was tiny. Even bigger basinettes are ok for naps, but are too narrow for many babies to get comfortable for a long stretch, particularly when they start rolling and crawling.

DS is 2.5 and I'm still really happy with our choice.

crazykat · 06/01/2014 17:47

If I'd known how much I'd spend on pushchairs and that I'd only have 12 months between dcs 1&2 I'd have got the iCandy apple a it can have a lie flat carrycot, parent face and be converted to a double. It was double what we paid for our travel system at the time but when the double and two strollers we've had since are added in it would have likely been cheaper.

nancerama · 06/01/2014 17:52

Good point Crazy. We went for the Cherry, almost certain that we were only going to have 1DC. We would have almost certainly opted for a peach or apple if we had been planning a small age gap.

BB01 · 07/01/2014 15:14

The Cherry is fabulous and would fit all your criteria imo

Trooperslane · 07/01/2014 15:22

As per Annoyed. Love it but shopping space basket is too small. Have bought some carriers so it's fine.

Lots of bright colours too and generally a good deal incl car seat.

Love love love the stokke range but couldn't justify it personally.

Sleetbunny · 07/01/2014 18:23

Thanks everyone, will check out the iCandy range as well Smile
