double buggies - side by side ok for siblings?

probably a stupid qu - I presume they make side-by-side buggies ok for siblings (we'll have a 19 month gap)? DH is convinced they wouldn't work (go round in circles / be wonky) with weight difference?

also thinking about if eldest wanted to get out and walk?

They are fine. But beware the hair pulling / scratching. Different weights are fine. I couldn't deal with the width, though, so have a tandem - Baby Jogger City Select. You want nice big wheels if you are pushing a heavy load IMO.

They work fine! We have a 2 year age gap and buggy has never been wonky! I didn't like the idea of one DC being underneath.

I've only ever had toddlers of a similar age in mine but they have a good 6 lb's between them and it definitely pulls to the side have you thought about a one in front of the other type? Side by sides are difficult in shops and on some pavements

Depends on the buggy if they pull, the good ones don't as miaow says.

They are generally easier to steer and push than tandems imo, so if you can take the width and increasingly over time, the empty seat, then they are a simpler option.

Width drives me insane, I find tandems worked better for us, the child in the lower seat got plenty of walking time so being in the restricted view seat wasn't such a huge issue. Plus, oddly, they tussled over who got to sit in the lower seat rather than the upper one.

I had a Baby Jogger City Mini for that age gap and it was brilliant although I did switch to a Phil and Ted's when the oldest got a bit older and was mainly walking. No fighting in the side by side, they couldn't really reach each other but in the Phil and Teds the one in the back can kick the other one and collapse the front seat so we had more issues with that!

I had a side by side maclaren twin techno for 19 month age gap and it was fine. I did find my wrist ached a bit but only if pushing for a long time. I didn't really have a problem with width, as most places are able to be accessed by a wheel chair and it was narrower than one.

If your eldest is quite big it can be a bit of a squish though, the seats aren't as wide as a single stroller.

It depends on the side by side. Some pushchairs like the Duet pull when unequally loaded and the seats are too near together which can lead to sibling fun, games and hair pulling. Some like the Baby Joggers or the TFK have better separation between the children and no issues with weight distribution. Steer clear of the umbrella folds because you will at some point have issues whether its handling or your eldest being too big too soon for the seats etc.
