think we've narrowed it down to the above 2 for newborn & 2.2 year old.

  • needs to fit in boot of small car
  • convert back to single (as not sure 2yo will need it for too long).
  • be forward & parent facing
  • able to attach carrycot/car seat

soooo.... the question is, which one!?!

How much do you walk? I used a double till dd1 was nearly 4 but I walked best part of a mile just to get in to town and a lot further some days. It was just too far for her. If you're going to walk a lot which do you like better for pushing? If you will be folding for car a lot which do you like better for folding? Have you tried both in car boot?
Personally I would buy the donkey because I really like it. Fortunately as my youngest is now 6 I don't need to find the cash for that!

I agree with the above poster. Have you tried the Donkey in your car? The City Select should fit as its small folded. If you have to convert the Donkey each time to use, then think seriously about buying it. The conversion can be a complete PITA especially when its throwing it down with rain and cold and your hands are frozen. It takes so long to organise it all. TBH at least twice I gave up on shopping trips and came home before selling my Donkey. Fab for walking with straight out of the front door, but it is not one for a small car boot.....

Meanwhile I am not sure the City Select is a good choice with an already over 2 year old - I have put some reasons why on another City Select thread a few mins ago on here. The City Select seating options are also more limiting than they look when you need one child sat up and the other reclined, or if you need both ever reclining.

I honestly would suggest you look at the Oyster Max, Peach Blossom 2, Apple 2 Pear or even a Jane Twone which I know wont give you a parent facing carrycot, but at least your life will be considerably easier than the Donkey and you will be able to push them all beautifully with two children on board!

Personally, no contest. Donkey every time for me. Had it for twin DDs now using for DS and if DDs are tired (with buggy board). Twins were super comfy, safe, I could see them, it's SO easy to push. Loved it. And am delighted to be using it now as a single for DS and esp love the side basket. I can fold and get in car in less than 10 seconds now it's everso easy really.

twinsplusone... is it a faff to put it all together and take it apart to get it in the car?

Sorry mrsrv not been on for a few days.
At first it was a faff but now I reckon I've got the whole lot in the car in under 10 seconds - that's after I sort the kids and straps out. I honestly can't recommend it enough. I was pushing twins in our city mini double the other day and it was much much harder work than in the donkey - we use the donkey for baby DS now you see.

Oh yes sorry just seen I've banged on about the 10 seconds thing in both posts.
I have taken the bumper bars off which makes it easier to get to the two white buttons you push to remove either carrycot or seat. If you're really strong you can flip it to fold with seats still attached and lump in car but I am a puny 5'2" so can't manage that! DH does regularly though.
Have you tinkered with donkey in shop?
