Something from birth? Affordable

I am my usual confused self when selecting baby stuff. Is there any affordable good quality pushchair we can use from birth? My friend had one where she attached her car seat to it for about 6 months or so and now uses the pushchair. We have already got the maxi cosi car seat so need something compatible with it.
Are there any affordable options out there. Something like 250£ or so.
Thanks

Mama and papas armadillo? £199, and folds great for storage/ in car/ on bus. £29.99 for the maxi cosi adapters so car seat will fit. Although its recommended a baby doesn't spend more than an hour at a time in car seat

Bakerof3pudsxx · 29/12/2013 10:34

Mamas and papas zoom is £250 (not through them though through other online stores)

This comes with a carrycot

I don't think it fits your car seat though although as a previous poster said it's advised baby isn't in a car seat for more than 60 mins

zinher · 29/12/2013 10:38

The reason I said about car seat is that that I dnt go out that often anyway. Will probably be just using it to pop into baby group which is 10 min away. I didn't know that baby could not spend more than 60 min in car seat.what about long car journeys? Where do I put baby then? God I am so clueless. :(

I think with a long car journey it's unavoidable unless you stop for drinks toilet eye then get baby out

I think the main point is it's not ideal to take baby half hour drive in car then get out them out, stick car seat on pram, push them round for a couple of hours then back in the car

They are best off flat for their spines which is why I would look for a carrycot or lay flat option

Artandco · 29/12/2013 10:50

Exactly. Long journeys aren't daily so ok. The problem is that babies need to lie flat as much as possible due to spine development. The problem is when people use car seat on pram to walk 20 mins to friends, then keep baby in seat in house as asleep, then pop back on pram and call in shops on way back. If that happened daily its a lot of time baby is spent bent.

If you don't think you will be out lots def look at similar to he armidillo or bugaboo bee ( second hand at £250), as a carrycot will only last around 6 months so will be a waste of money. Any pushchair that lies flat will be suitable from newborn. You can add sheepskin/ footmuff/ liner/ etc to make anything cosier.

Thanks for the input. Has anyone got any ideas about the maxi cosi elea? It's supposed to be used from birth and baby can lie flat in it. On kiddie care it is 250£. Is kiddie care reliable? As the same pushchair is 400£ on mothercare and 300£ on boots Confused

Do you definitely need a pushchair from birth? You could use a sling for the first few months, as some pushchairs are suitable from three months as they aren't quite flat enough for a newborn.

Artandco · 29/12/2013 11:39

Do you need to be able to fold the pushchair? The elea looks quiet big and one that you would end up replacing a year on if needing to put in car/ bus/ plane/ train/ nursery

What about a baby jogger city mini

zinher · 29/12/2013 11:39

I thought I would definitely need it. I am going to a sling library soon as I really like the idea of slings. Hmm maybe I will hold out one the pushchair and see how I get on with the sling

As far as kiddicare goes I have bought from there several times with no problem

Beckamaw · 29/12/2013 12:25

We bought a Quinny Zapp Xtra. Didn't get on with it at all.

Then I bought an 'O Baby' buggy to take on holiday Very inexpensive, very straightforward. Suitable from birth.
We use it all the time.

Abandoned the Quinny at my Mum's, for when she has the small person. She doesn't like it either! Grin

Yes, good experiences with Kiddicare here too.

Personally I would have a from birth pushchair and a sling where possible. What about the my child floe? Tiggy and I saw it early in the year and the convertible seat unit made for a huge, deep comfortable carrycot, them a lightweight, non bulky pushchair once the baby is bigger. The joie chrome is also excellent IMO and suitable from birth with or without the carrycot. Or a musty Evo .. Or a grace evo.

mincepeyes · 29/12/2013 13:03

The Joie Mirius can be used from birth. Lies flat, is lightweight, can be front or rear facing by just moving the handle and has a one-hand fold. Don't know about the maxi-cosi car seat but, it comes with a car seat for just under £200

DisneyAddict88 · 29/12/2013 19:33

I would highly recommend the bugaboo bee I bought mine for £315 but second hand would be cheaper. so light and easy to use and can be parent facing past 6 months - a godsend for dd2 who hates facing out and still parent faces at 18 months.

however baby jogger city mini is also good and suitable from birth as it is or can buy carrycot/car seat adaptors. I used for dd1 from about a year old (used sling beforehand - only reason I didn't use with dd2 is I had spd during pregnancy and still having problems now Sad )

the thing with prams if u look after them the more expensive ones hold value whereas cheaper ones u won't get anything for if u don't get on with it or when you finish using.

Glasgow pram centre online are very good for value and great customer service - they kept me updated constantly. kiddicare is also brilliant Grin

I've got the M&P zoom which is currently under £250 in the sale. We've bought adapters for it so our maxi cosi car seat fits on. I'd definitely recommend it as the carrycot is great from birth.
