Babyjogger or Maclaren?

I have a Vista but am itching to move on. I find it heavy and awkward for me to lift once folded and am self-conscious when using it due to its size and width to the point it stops me wanting to go out. In reality I'll stick to the Vista a while longer, I am hoping it will be easier to use with an infant seat which I know I can click on and off and turn around really easily (I struggle with removing the baby seat on my own and when trying to put the carrycot on I can't see where I am aiming!). Also I want the parent-facing option for a little while.

I am trying to decide between a Babyjogger City Mini (either the 3 or 4 wheel) or a Maclaren stroller. I'm going to test a city mini when I can as I've read on old threads they're quite big and not a lightweight stroller option and I don't want to make the mistake of going too big and heavy again. There doesn't seem much difference in width from the Vista from what I can work out and at the moment I avoid certain shops and cafés due to my pushchair, I don't want to do this anymore.

Baby jogger: I like the easy fold, easy steering and single handle bar, I am keen on the Babyjogger brand and the positive reviews. Don't like the bulkiness compared to a buggy and am worried this will annoy me over time, I'm not too bothered if it's a bulky fold though compared to the Maclaren. I've also read the seat isn't very upright, will this be a problem for a toddler?
Maclaren: I'm not sure which model, but most people move to this type of stroller eventually, I am supposing because of ease of use. I don't really like the look of them though and don't like the 2 handlebars. Will my life be so much easier with this type of stroller?

Personally I'd say babyjogger city mini. We got one when Dd1 was 12 months and have used it for her and now her sister.

It is comfortable with support for their legs.
It also has a great hood which means if it is just a light rain shower you don't need to dig out the raincover.
It reclines well to allow the child to nap and is just more snugly and protected than a mac lauren.
Never had a problem with shop doors. It's not especially wide.
Manoeuvrability great.

My PIL have a MacLaren that we use when we visit.
The child is very close to the ground in it and it just doesn't seem comfortable for anything but a short walk. There is just a small rubber strip for them to rest their legs on.
The hood is tiny.
It feels a bit like pushing a doll's buggy as I am quite tall. Babyjogger handle is tall. MacLaren also seems liable to tip if anything slung on the handles and child gets out.

These are my likes and dislikes. Depends what you need it for, particularly how long you will walk for whilst pushing your child.

Hello, I would recommend the baby jogger , we have used the single city mini since our son was 6 months old and loved it so much we also bought the double version for our new arrival so we can take the two kids out

For the single,i would say width wise Ive had no issues at all, take it out to shops, restaurants/ cafes etc no issues.
Big canopy which is great for very sunny days ( was great when we took it abroad as didnt need a separate sunshade), also great as said above for getting caught in light rain showers... I also think the shopping basket is very generous and it has a large pocket on the back of the seat too .

The seat lies flat enough to allow my toddler to sleep very soundly ! It sits up straight enough too to see everything going on. I like the view flaps in the hood too, means you dont need to constantly pull the hood back to see what they are up to !
Biggest thing for me when buying it , was to fit into a tiny 107 boot, which it fits in comfortably, It is not an umbrella fold, it folds in half with the easiest pull handle action , this is what sold it to me. Yes it is more expensive than other buggies but it is so sturdily made and i walk for miles with it so I am a total convert
Also do you know you can use a carrycot attachment for newborns? i have this too and can use it either on my double when I have the two of them or it fits my single too x :)

Baby Jogger. I sold my Techno for it and have a City Mini GT. Love it, my 23 month old is very comfy in it and never ever have an issue with the size apart from in stupid shops like WHSmith where you couldn't get a knitting needle down some of the aisles.

Baby jogger. Definitely.

Got rid of my maclaren for a city mini and love it.

I've got both a BabyJogger City Mini (3 wheels) and a Maclaren Quest. I got the BabyJogger to replace a Mothercare MyChoice 4-wheeler pram (which I guess was about the size of a Vista).

I use the BJCM for my 'everyday' pram and keep the Maclaren in the car boot. I really love the BJCM, it's not too heavy but feels substantial to push (as in not too shaky and juddery for the baby). My DD2 is 20 months, but only weighs 9kgs, so she's not especially heavy but I don't feel she's being thrown around - some of the pavements round here are very poor!

It's really easy to fold, and easier to carry than a Maclaren because it ends up 'square' rather than long and thin. It doesn't feel bulky at all, in fact part of the reason for buying it (rather than just ditching the MyChoice and using the Maclaren full-time) was for traveling to Disneyland Paris next February - I wanted something more 'protective' from the cold than the Maclaren, something more substantial but still good for travelling. I also saw a few BJCM on holiday in Majorca this year, so they are light enough for travel but you get the benefit of the protective (from sun and wind) large extendable hood.

If I have to get the bus I usually take the Maclaren but have used the BJCM on buses no problem. It really doesn't feel big.

I do love the Maclaren too though, I have had 2 Quests, a Volo and a Techno XT over the course of 3 babies! Lifelong fan! The Techno XT is a good pram to have as your main one, but I got rid of mine because as a second pram I found it too big and bulky. The Quest is a brilliant all-rounder, the only thing it lacks is the extendable hood of the Techno XT. The Volo was fine for holidays and an older toddler, but it doesn't recline.

Alicemum09 I have a sinking feeling one way or another I will end up with both! Or some combination of pushchairs/buggies (Bee, Cherry, Raspberry) recommended to me. Good for flexibility but bad for my bank balance.

I considered replacing our vista with a bjcm, but when I went to try one out it was the same height (unfolded) as the vista and didn't feel any smaller to me. The fold is great but folding wasn't that important to us. The vista overall felt nicer to push, better seat, nicer fabrics, etc too. We couldn't justify the cost of the bjcm for something that felt like a downgrade to what we already have, that our DD loves being in. We too wanted a smaller alternative and in the last year We've also had a britax b agile, maclaren quest, petite star zia and still have gone back to the vista. All of those were sold on. Personally I think the b agile was actually nicer than the bcjm, and cheaper. But DD couldn't get on with the seat position. I hated the maclaren and the zia, felt flimsy and hard work to push. Zia wheel fell off after a week going up a kerb. Someone on here told me its hard to find a pushchair that is the same quality and as nice to push when you've had a vista, and I have to agree. DD is older now so we have just bought a babyzen yoyo to replace the vista. We got it for half its RRP but had we not got that, we would have bought the uppababy g luxe umbrella pushchair.

Baby Jogger :)

I posted exactly the same q a few months ago and got the same response! However I spotted a second hand McLaren techno for a tenner as my finger was hovering over buying the jogger from boots. Decided to give it a go and so pleased I did as it's still going strong and ticks all the boxes. That said I'd be keen to try out a jogger at some point as people do rave about them.

Baby jogger. The main advantages over the Maclaren are that you can push it one handed and it doesn't fall over when loaded with shopping. The fold is also fantastic.
