Come help me work this out...pregnant & toddler & BJCElite & Maclaren Globetrotter.

I've currently got a BJC ELITE (occasional use off-road or in snow) and a lightweight Maclaren Globetrotter (everyday/shopping etc).

Kids-wise I've got a 2.5yo and am 3months pregnant.

When my toddler was a baby we used a god-awful Silver Cross 3D (now sold) so I've no idea if the BJCELITE is ok for a newborn. Do I need to but a carrycot/insert thingy? Or would I be ok just using it as is? Do I need some sort of adaptors? Also, would I be able to buy/use a buggy board with a carrycot in it (or in lie-flat position)

Im a bit bamboozled.

Thanks in advance.

You can use the elite seat just laid flat (at least i'm pretty sure you can as all the other baby joggers bar the micro you can use from birth). I don't know how you will go with a buggyboard with it laid flat. It might be okay or it might be impossible the walk behind. If it were me I would get a carrycot, i think there is a new baby jogger one due out soon (the compact one doesn't last that long seemingly, bit too compact).

Thanks Parties. I think I too would prefer a carrycot, although money's tight this time round, and I don't know if it'd be possible to get 2nd hand (I'll have a Google).

The other thing I wondered is if it'd be best to get a carseat instead that clips on (currently got a cheapy 'BabyStart' one, which I assume wouldn't clip on using the adaptors you can buy?)

Argh, there's so many permutations and I can't financially afford to make a mistake & have to re-buy.

Depends what you do I guess, if short journeys then perhaps invest in a carseat you can put on the chassis, using the main pushchair seat for longer trips. If you're not in and out of the car very much then I would go for the carrycot.

You definitely can get them second hand. The compact and the deluxe. They don't make the deluxe one anymore but they are still around used. Try the baby jogger buy sell chat facebook page perhaps?

hi scampi , I have the carrycot attachment and yes it attaches on with adaptors , I find it very easy to slide on. also I was looking into the buggy board option too and found watching a few tutorials on YouTube was very informative , I just typed in Baby Jogger / buggy board etc , and found out that the buggy board would only work with carrycot option if there were extension parts used ...
I got my carrycot off EBay , Brand new still in original box for £65 so there are bargains x I think the usual retail price is around £130 . So far very pleased with it , it has a sturdy base and great hood as per the buggy ( extra long fold over to keep baby snug )
I have never used the car seat but think its only the maxi cosi that attaches but I could be wrong x
