Mountain buggy duet (carrycot/stand/Joey tote)

Hi dc 3 due in five weeks ....ish crikey. I am considering the duet even though dc2 is age three (just), my dc1 is five, they both walk of course..... But, lots walking to from sch and pre school and duet nice and sturdy for that, like look of carrycot and thinking of using this with the Joey store bag thing as have loads stuff for dcs eg lunch bags, book bags and normal buggy basket would be way too small and hard to access, intend freerider or lascal board for dc 2 as she does get tired out from pre school and the walking especially the extra journey at 3pm to get dc1. Also will use car seat option with Joey. Question is..... Anyone used it like this? Ie the Joey/carrycot or even seat/carrycot?
Also the carrycot stand looks handy and would maximise use of the carrycot for the few weeks before dc3 will prob outgrow it! Question re that can you access that lovely huge storage basket when the carrycot is above it?! Ie for nappies, wipes etc, thinking in lounge and keep Moses upstairs etc. any other info on use of duet with freerider, lascal carrycot is most welcome....please!! I am leaving it all a bit late this time round but do want to get the right thing and something I also simply like look of and I do love look of duet/sturdiness of it for winter baby in my location.... (North, cold wind etc)
Just to say have big car boot and space indoors for buggy in hall so am not bothered re size folded, weight etc as the other factors more important to me.

Anyone please? Opinions on the above set up if you already use duet, particularly in any way mentioned above thanks, Smile

Frigg has a Duet and Joey which she has been using. Its not easy to swap between the seat unit and the Joey though and we reckoned she may as well simply fill a reclined seat with bags - it holds more weight and looks neater!
Just watch the carrycot stand - when I asked MB couldn't confirm that the carrycots were suitable for overnight sleeping in the UK. It would be fine for day time. Do check though - its a while since I asked.

Hmmmm thank you, I was thinking that re the joey thing, looks a bit messy in some pics I have seen, certainly not as sleek as the similar set up on the bug donkey. Maybe better to manage with a p & t for the few weeks until baby can go in front seat (reclined) and use back seat for the dcs stuff! Ultimately a sleeker package longer term and will no doubts find second seat useful at some point for someone! May feel a bit of a waste using spare seat on duet for bags, just hard to picture what dc2 is capable of walking wise, she is big but it's quite a trek to and from our sch/nursery two to three times a day. I do think the duet would cope well with weight of carrycot/baby and dc2 on freerider however, poss better than p and t...I most prob need two buggies!!! Nice carrycot/pram travel system thing......AND a p & t for a bit later on! There is no one fits all pram, at least I have decided that, am 36 weeks so have a bit if time to ponder I hope! Thanks for tip re the stand, will def check if I go with duet, saw a video on YouTube but didn't look like duet carrycot was the urban duo one I think.

What about a tfk joggster with multi x carrycot and buddy seat? No specific extra basket I guess but stuff can go on buddyseat unless in use?
We haven't had a double for a while but on occasion I still miss it and dd1 is 3y10m!

Have you looked at the mountain buggy plus one, you could use the soft carry cot in the back and have the 3 year old ride in the front or use a carrycot. Looks lots of space under when used with a carrycot. When baby is bigger and sitting up he/she can sit in the front with space behide for stuff. You can also use it as a normal single

ihateparties I've looked for the TFK jogster twist a few times, but I can never find it in stock anywhere.

As in to view? That's true, they do seem hard to actually see. A multi x carrycot was on ebay for 10quid start and no one bid. I almost did because it was so cheap but I have no use for one! It's definitely one i would have liked to have tried.

I loved my +One. I added hamster bags to the side and I got a whole trolley full of food home in thr back section (obviously you couldnt do that with a newborn!) It may well work for you with your age gap.

Hmmmm, I'm still here, 38weeks just about and still uhmmming andnahhhing! Don't like (sorry!) look of the tfk thingy anyways but can see is a great buggy, the plus one is ok but I had an urban once and didn't really like it much, don't know why, we just didn't click!

At least have car seat ready to bring bubs home and my hosp bag is packed! Saw someone with duet yesterday and similar age children to mine and it looked so handy, the lady had loads bits n bobs in basket and nice bag neatly on handle and it just looked so compact and sturdy.....much easier than p and t to start me off I guess, do the duets have reasonable re sale value do we think? Could see how long remains useful for with seat option for dc2 /use of freerider etc then swap to p and t once she starts school in sept 2014. Now worrying I will miss parent face option on all my sch/nursery runs and have started investigating the bug buffalo! Arrrrgh is a slippery slope I feel, I love how it folds with seat and had huge basket and wheels. I have decided to make no pre labour rash decisions though and baby will be without pram until he after arrival. Anyone like the buffalo?
