Sane woman reduced to gibbering wreck over choosing pushchair

I generally think I'm quite a decisive person, but recently got stung over a 2nd hand one and have been rendered incapable of making a decision about what to buy...
I have a long list of requirements: compact (ideally quite light but folding size more of an issue - car boot ok sized but easily filled with stuff for all the kids when going away or even out for the day); must suit newborn and toddler (interchangably, not at the same time); must have 4 wheels; must have fairly high handle (I'm 5'10''); must be reasonably durable with good enough suspension that it is comfy for walks in the park...
I was thinking a Maclaren as a 'safe' bet but then I saw the baby jogger city mini (with 4 wheels) is on a good offer in Boots at the moment (plus a bonus Christmas points offer for today only when you shop online), so now I'm wondering about that.
Please, please, share your wisdom...

Baby jogger. Absolutely. Easy fold, great steer, light, huge canopy to shield from sun etc, great for naps.

Double points at boots make it a steal! Do it!

Brilliant, thanks Kato - really appreciate that, just needed someone's approval!

Oh, make sure you're also registered for the boots parent club and you'll get an extra 10points per pound too!! Takes a few seconds to do online first!

Thanks, think I am, but worth checking. They also have a £12 worth of points for £75 on just for today (did I already mention that?!).

Have you tried them in person? I'm an inch taller than you and all those were too low and I ended up kicking the wheels. The uppababy was the only one tall enough.

Good tip, thanks! The Boots offer is only available online, but I guess if I buy it and order it as a store pick up I can try it and return it there and then (hassle/money free) if it doesn't suit(?).

I do have overly long limbs so you may not have the same problem!

I have a confession to make - I nipped out this morning and grabbed a second hand maclaren techno xt that someone was selling for £10 with footmuff. It's in a good used condition, but I sort of figured if I just used it for a few weeks that would be a reasonable spend (or even if that was one that was put away and just taken on planes etc). Now I'm really torn about whether to get the city mini now whilst there seems to be a really good deal, or wait til after christmas/when the maclaren dies. hmm... like I said, I'm usually a rational and capable adult, but over the topic of pushchairs my brain seems to turn to mush.

You're in good company... I understand.

I've bought five buggies for one DS...

seafoodudon · 14/11/2013 14:45

It's mental. I'm normally so careful with money, in fact, DH is often the one persuading me to just buy things. Just not when it comes to pushchairs, or kids clothes for that matter. I'm just too tempted with bargains and they are so often a false economy. When will I learn?!

Seafood if you don't mind me asking, what's your budget like? We've just bought our first pushchair for baby #1 and I had a huge headache every time I looked/read up on them. We got a total bargain (considering how much the bits we got at this price would be if bought individually)
