Best double buggy for pulling bhind with a Guide Dog

Hi, Both dh and I are blind and use Guide dogs. I am thinking about baby number two but know ds will not be walking enough by the time it hopefully will be born We need a double buggy that'd be good for pulling behind us. We have the Bugaboo Cam 3 and use it with the handle flipped over with the smaller wheels at the back and the bigger ones at the front. We have spoken to Bugaboo and they have nothing double that'd be suitable. Can anyone reccomend anything? We would ideally need a buggy that has one handle, that can either be flipped or 4 wheels that move independantly. Please help as am at a loss. Also asking on behalf of friend who is due with twins and a Guide Dog user. Thanks x

Would this work two fold or could you put the baby in a sling. You could maybe adapt the handle so that it did meet in the middle

Not sure about a buggy for newborn twins as it it is side by side would the guide dog know he needed to look for more space.

Do you both have a guide dog what about two singles when you are out together.

Have you looked at the convertable bike trailers / prams, like the Cruisers?

onelittlepiglet · 13/11/2013 13:34

I've seen this pram the stroll air my duo which seems to have lots of seat combinations so could be used for a toddler and a baby or twin babies. The handle is adjustable but not sure if the handle flips over, but the seats are both reversible so you cold have them facing towards you or looking out.

Hope you find something suitable!

Wouldn't the Donkey do in these circumstances?

muzmum · 14/11/2013 14:42

I have the stroll air my duo - we imported it from the states when we had the twins because we wanted a parent facing side by side. I've heard that they were planning on selling them here from June last year but not seen anything more. I'm being a bit thick and I'm not sure exactly how you want to use it but the seats can lie flat or be upright and can face either way (or one each way). It is quite lightweight and quite narrow but the handle does not flip over. Not sure if that's of any help.

Is your system with the cameleon that you pull it with the swivel wheels closest to you and the air ones at the back? Not sure I'm getting the right idea, I have a feeling I have seen some European pushchairs with flip handles that might allow you to do the same thing but want to check I'm getting the right idea first?!

nesticles · 28/11/2013 04:15

Thanks for your replys, Ihate yes we have the swivel wheels closest to us. The Donky's handle doesn't flip. I can't carry easily as pelvis is shot. I pull behind me so my dog doesn't need to make allowances...and if it was a double it hopefully would be the same width as me and doggy. I can't believe Bugaboo's cam is the only buggy that can do this flippy thing. x

I did look briefly but not in detail as I wasn't sure I had the right idea. I don't believe it can be the only one either but doubles are always trickier. Nothing obvious is springing to mind. Will have a look. You might be looking at an unknown or imported brand.

Would a baby jogger city select work? They are a beast of a pram though, enormous!

Tiggywunkle · 07/12/2013 00:03

Can you not use the Donkey in 2 wheel mode, so that you pull it along behind you on 2 wheels instead of 4. Then when you stop you can kick it back out into 4 wheels again?

Hermyninny · 07/12/2013 00:08

Would the out and about nipper 360 work? Handle doesn't flip but very manoeuvrable forward and back.

Wingdingdong · 07/12/2013 00:23

Baby jogger city select wouldn't work. I have one, and it's a fab buggy but you need to push down quite hard on the handle to get enough leverage to mount kerbs, doorsills, etc. You couldn't do it pulling - you'd either give the DC whiplash injuries or you'd do your own back in trying to lift it over.

The baby jogger citi mini double might be a better bet though the seats aren't reversible.

There were rumours that the Baby Jogger City Versa might be released as a double - the Versa has reversible seats. Possibly worth a call to BJ?

We have an OutnAbout Nipper 3 wheeler single which is very easy to pull along (I have pushed a supermarket trolley and pulled the buggy several times!) - they do a double too, but again the DC would be facing rearwards, and it's a 3 wheeler.

Tiggywunkle · 07/12/2013 00:35

There's no sign of a double Versa sadly! Not this year anyway!
A Croozer kid for 2 might work but nothing about it is ideal.

I have just had a look and this pushchair - a Gemini 2 in 1 on Ebay has a flip handle. It also has fixed wheels which may be an issue?
I think this is the style which Parties was talking about. There may be others similar, but it may be a case of trawling European Ebay sites or Amazon for possibles.

not sure about finer details of this as not got one, but perhaps worth having a look at the mountain buggy duet or duo, one is slightly wider and will take toddlers up to a higher weight, which might be useful especially for your friend with twins. i am not sure about the handle but it has four wheels and looks sturdy.
