Is it wrong to have this if it's a girl...?

So whilst in John Lewis today they have a HUGE reduction on the iCandy apple2pear pushchair. It's a bargain at £595 and that comes with the pushchair, carry cot, 2 rain covers and adapters so all we need to buy is a car seat & isofix. Anyway, the main reason for the reduction is that they're selling them cheaper as it's something to do with an anniversary. The only thing is that it comes in one colour (well the hood for the pushchair attachment) and that's raspberry blue. Shade wise it is exactly as a raspberry slush puppy would be. It's a really lovely colour, and I don't want to know the sex of our baby, but would this put you off buying it? I don't want my child if it's a girl to be in all pink or a boy all blue, I hate the whole gender/colour thing. Just wondering whether the colour would put you off the price. It's a bargain though!!!

I've done so much research into Prams & pushchairs, and the majority of them are the same width, which is what I'm having a problem with.

I had a bright blue/dark blue mix for my pram and I didn't know what I was having. I did end up with 2 boys, but would have been fine for a girl too. I would have an issue with baby pink colour for a boy tbh, but seriously..blue is fine! You'd but a baby girl a blue dress wouldn't you? Best wishes for the arrival btw x x

Slush puppy blue is a great colour. Whilst I don't get the whole pink/blue thing (and I have a young ds and younger dd) I'd say it is a gender neutral colour. DD is wearing a t shirt that colour today.

Dd's pushchair is navy.

It's a lovely colour, go for it (I loved my Apple)

Gwendoline, if you don't mind me asking, what car did you have when using your apple?

I have a blue iCandy. I love the colour. Had a boy first time but don't know yet what this one will be. Am going through DS's things to see what will work for a girl (if I have a girl, she will wear lots of blue, tops with trucks on etc because I can't afford a whole new wardrobe and besides, they are lovely!) - it never even occurred to me that the pram wouldn't suit a girl! Really, I wouldn't think twice about it.

I'm Shock that £595 is a good deal. Clearly I am ancient as my youngest is about to be 10, but seriously I always walked (don't drive) and we spent under £100 for a lie-back buggy and £110 on a really good back-carrier. For 3 kids!

I can't even begin to imagine spending £600 on a pram. Couldn't you get a from-birth buggy to fit in your car?

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 09/11/2013 08:43

I bought a blue buggy for dd after she was born! Didn't even think about it!

I don't think any colours are unsuitable for a girl and if I see a blue pram I wouldn't think the baby must be a boy, whereas some colours do look girly. I can't understand why anyone would buy a girly colour unless they know they are having a girl and won't be having further babies. I actually think the colour you describe sounds lovely for either.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a pink pram/pushchair- but that's because I can't stand girly pink colours! Nothing to do with baby's gender. Even if I had a girl I still wouldn't buy pink as it's not a colour I like!

I don't really see a problem with the colour you describe- if you like it & the price doesn't bust the budget, buy it!

I do agree that when things are in the pink version, they seem more cheap & tacky, don't know what it is exactly...I just think that darker colours seem more timeless & dare I say it, classy.
That's just my opinion though.
