Two kids in my single BJCM (3 and 6months) for short walks. A complete no no?

My eldest is (on paper!) a past buggy age and usually happy to walk/scoot so I don't need a double buggy. Sometimes I do have her in my BJCM and the baby in the carrier, but sometimes if we're walking back from the park and the baby is in the buggy my eldest likes to sit in with her.

Any experience of this? Is the buggy likely to break? (I guess the obvious answer is eventually it will if I keep doing it /when they both get heavier...but just wanted to know if there are any real life war stories ! Thanks!)

All I'd do in this instance is make sure that it felt like it wasn't straining under the weight, and also, to make sure the safety straps are attached under the seat (you know the things you have to undo to fold it? that no one really bothers with usually)

Otherwise I don't think it's a problem.

Also you could add their weights and see if it's more than the maximum.

I was still using our maclaren when ds2 was 4.

I used to often sit on my brother's lap in the pushchair when I was five and he was three.

Depends on how heavy the children are :-)

Ok thanks for that and good tip re, the red straps you're right I just left them unclipped!

I used to do this with my maclaren techno when we were running late for school. DC aged 5 used to sit in seat and the 2 yr on their lap. Anyway the screws must have loosened on one side where the seat support bar that goes under the seat meets the frame, one side of the seat totally collapsed. Luckily we were on our way home from school and not crossing a road at the time! I totally understand the temptation as I've done it but would never do it again nor advise anyone else to. What about a buggy board for when she's tired?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 30/09/2013 20:51

I should think its fine. There were three children in my bjcm gt over the summer (not my doing!)

Oh crikey! Nightmare OhTheDrama.
I do have a buggy board but it's on my other pram.

I had 3 under 3 and broke every weight limit of every buggy I had---never broke the buggy. I used to have twins in the carrycot pram and ds1 sat on a cushion at the end of it.
I used to balance ds1 on the handlebars/hood of my double.
I had the wondeful joovey and sometimes a friend would get on too!

I wouldn't worry!
