Phil and Ted sport question

I've been given a hand me down Phil and Ted's sport v2. So far I hate it but I haven't used it yet!
Can you help me fall in love with it and if you have it can you tell me when it's in newborn and toddler mode, does the cocoon need to stay attached to the actual seat because it's going to be difficult to take new baby in and out all the time if not.
My other question is that my. 2 year old will be going in the second seat will her bum not squash the New babies feet and toes? And for the second seat while it is in newborn mode is there a waterproof foot muff I can buy for it? I see Phil and Ted's sell a sleeping bag thing is that it? Is that water proof? Thanks for any help.......

I love my p&t it is so useful. Still use it in double mode for school run now oldest two are walking - all their bags go in the back.

The cocoon just clips in and out. So if baby asleep you can unclip and take sleeping baby with you. My younger two loved sleeping in it and would nap in it at home - great if we suddenly decided to go out because I could just clip cocoon in without waking up baby.

No baby's feet don't get squashed though I know why you think it looks that way.

P&t footmuff (the sleeping bag thing) good for warmth and drizzle - you need the rain cover for real rain - but that's true of all pushchairs I think , I just used an old footmuff from a different pram or a blanket myself.. The p&t rain hood has a special flap to stop rain getting into the cocoon which is effective.

My p&t is a trusty old workhorse that us served us well. When dc3 outgrows it I may give it a Viking funeral. Grin

Ok that all sounds good I am struggling to remove the cocoon at the moment though I take it you have to take the front seat off to do it.? The clips are so fiddley I'm tipping the cocoon up at one side to take the clips of on the other....

No, no, you don't need to take the seat off at all! Can't quite picture the problem because it was always straightforward on mine (I am past the cocooon stage so can't go and look).

As I remember - there were two straps with clips on that are attached to the lying-flat bit of the P&T. Stand as though you are about to push the pram somewhere, and just pull the straps towards you so they're dangling out. Then slot the cocoon in (the baby's head will be by you, and its feet down at the front end of the pram. Then clip the fasteners on the straps into the plastic bits on the cocoon.

Can't quite work out the issue! Have you got the baby the wrong way round - with its head at the front end? Its head should be by you, so it's looking up at your face (upside down).

Ok I'll have a look again this evening, maybe I have the wrong cocoon

Is the cocoon a sort of carry-cot thing? Mine looked a bit like a sports bag - people often thought it was when they saw it in the corner of the living room and got a shock when they spotted a baby inside. Made me look a very lax parent Grin

lovelychops · 25/09/2013 11:06

Bumble - the exact thing kept happening to me too, people were surprised to see a baby in a sports hold all !

I'm not a fan of the pushchair so far. DS used to scream in the cocoon and although it says to keep them in till they're 6 months, I took him out when he was 4 months. Sorry that's not very helpful op.

sweetiepie1979 · 25/09/2013 12:48

Well I can't even put they thing up at the moment have to wait to husband gets back, I have 2 cocoons one with tiny little clips and the other with nothing yrs both look like s sports bag but one is softer than the other I must have 2 different versions. Husband has asked me nicely to please have an open mind about this buggy and he has cleaned it up for me but it is so dull looking and I feel like o want something brightblue but I know I'm been irrational but I am 39 weeks. Also is my toddler really going to fit in that extra seat? And..,, when you pull the zips back for the slight recline in that seat will baby toddler not bang their Head sitting up? Thank you x

I never clipped the cocoon in mine ever. No-one ever fell out.

sweetiepie1979 · 26/09/2013 13:43

Why am I struggling with thus pram so much? It just be mushy brain! I. Tried out my toddler in the front seat today her head is sitting on the bar of the seat so she can't lean back comfortably even in the recline position her head can't go back, she's only 2 normal height, am I doing something wrong or is it not expected that she would sleep in that seat? I see why you wouldn't have to strap cocoon in it is safe enough. Sorry for Being a pain about this advice much appreciated..,,

I had a Sport with newborn DD and just 3 yo DS.

I never attached the Cocoon to.the main seat, just put it in. It never slipped.Enough friction to keep.it in.place. DS never squashed DD underneath, and he wad a big three year old.

I used a p&t footmuff, and a p&t raincover. The footmuff alone is not waterproof. You can get double or single raincovers, the double ones are long enough to cover the second seat on top + cocoon on main seat, or main seat + second seat underneath.

I've had a few P&Ts and really liked them. If you really want a blue one then I think you can buy new seats (the fabric bit) for about £30.

I know what you mean about your 2 year old banging her head on the metal bar - I used to pad mine a bit. Most of the time the hoods from coats pad it for you though!
