Buggy suggestions please

Newbie here so hi mums and dads.
My 6 month old lad hates being in his buggy. He's okay for 20 mins then creates. I end up carrying him and pushing it whilst he fidgets in my arms, leans back, pushes away and is generally very busy being nosey. He's a tall, strong lad and I can't keep him calm or still for long enough to get him in his ergo carrier (another item wasted on my DS!).
He has a beautiful Quinny Buzz which I'm now thinking was a waste of money. It just doesn't seem to sit up enough for him. I've tried him forward facing recently and he prefers it but again he gets restless real quick. I think he wants to be completely upright and against a bumper bar looking all around !!
I think a new buggy is the way forward.
So I'm in the market for a totally different type of stroller from the Buzz. Quick fold and sporty which I can travel with but also use everyday. Must be reclining, have a good sized shopping basket, bumper bar or play tray, suit a 6'5" dad and 5'7" mum and be really nice looking yet functional.
So far I like the maclaren BMW, techno xlr and the babyzen yoyo. None if them tick all the boxes though!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have the XLR and love it, and apparently there is a bumper bar which fits on it too (if thats all it falls down on).

Im 5'2 and dh is 6'2 and the handles extend and retract just right for us.

what about a baby jogger? city mini gt is nice and has adjustable handle height

Is he crawling yet? If not, hold fire on the new buggy (unless you've decided you really want something more compact anyway).

Chances are he's restless because he wants to be doing stuff and doesn't want to be restrained in a buggy. If he's on the brink of crawling he'll be cross that he's being made to sit. This phase will pass.

Baby jogger city mini is great. And it will last him even if he's big; my giant 5 year old could even fit in for festival sleeping!

And its folding down is brilliant, so easy.

Altho I'm not totally optimistic a new buggy will solve your problem hey.. I can always go with a new buggy Grin? I'd hang onto the ergo and keep trying too, getting them in, esp for a back carry is a bit of a learned skill sometimes and there must be times when he's calm (or asleep) when you could practise.

I don't know how many of the pushchairs you mention go bolt upright enough to allow your ds to lean on the bar whilst still wearing the harness. The bugaboo cam has a bolt upright seat, a lady on this board ended up with one after lot of experimentation as she was after the same very upright seating position.

I don't see children sitting in maclaren's that upright. I know they do a bumper bar but i've never seen one in use though so that could be part of it.

City mini gt is a great option, the yoyo probably isn't perfect for the daily use you describe. An easywalker mini maybe?

I love my bugaboo bee, they are expensive but much more reasonable second hand.

Roccosmummy1 · 09/09/2013 21:27

He is on the brink of crawling and definitely frustrated. You are spot on. I do though want a more compact buggy in the near future. The buzz is just too bulky and having to remove the seat from the chassis to collapse it is annoying!

I've never thought of the baby jogger. I'll check it out.
Thanks for the input :-)

My bugaboo ticks all of those boxes, and not too expensive if you buy preloved.
Although, I'd agree that he might be fidgety because he's about to crawl so it may be the same with any pushchair.
