Uppababy Vista advise

sazzels007 · 20/08/2013 17:15

Hi

I am thinking of purchasing the uppababy vista, I have read lots of good reviews and it appeals to me that the basinet can be used for overnight sleeping.

Has anyone used this instead of a moses basket, I am thinking of buying the stand for it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sarah :)

We used it for over night with the stand! Fantastic and highly recommend! much much better and more comfortable than a moses basket!

Yes I recommend it, we used it without the stand for going out and overnight until she outgrew it around 4 months

my daughter was prem and is now 14lb at 10 months and still sleeps in the carrycot at weekends when we are away in the caravan! lol

We used it on weekends away when DS was tiny, but didn't bother with the stand. It saves so much space in the car as you don't have to take a separate Moses basket. I also love it as a pushchair, it has so many clever design features. We took it on holiday to France recently and it was great. There is a huge amount of space in the basket for days out and the high seat meant DS could sit at cafe tables and have lunch with us (for some reason the French don't go in for high chairs much) rather than being stck at knee height, which would have led to a lot of grizzles. I use a John Lewis buggy sheepskin with it which keeps DS warm/cool as appropriate and very comfy. He'll happily have a good long nap in it with the seat reclined.

We have it and would use it as Moses basket but he won't sleep in neither so it's a moot point!

One thing the guy in John Lewis said is that it's ok for naps but he wouldn't recommend for overnight as it'll pick up dirt from being outside and that could increase risk of SIDS.

What bizarre advice from John Lewis Shock. The bassinet is completely safe for overnight sleeping, it has a ventilated mattress and is made from organic material.

I thought the whole point of the Uppababy Vista basinette was that it is one of the very few travel systems that has been tested as safe for baby to sleep overnight in??

cogitosum · 23/08/2013 10:18

I know that's what I thought. He did acknowledge that it was safe in theory but just said he wouldn't because of the dirt thing from it being outside.

Not an issue for us anyway as ds won't sleep in anything like that anyway. I'm just using the sling during the day and the pram's gathering dust!

I'd be very surprised if there was anything dodgy that could be picked up just from being wheeled around outside. It sounds to me as if the JL guy has a bit of a personal paranoia about germs rather than that being any kind of official advice.
