I think I may have found the perfect pushchair but I'm struggling with the different models. Its all so confusing.

I don't need an all terrain as it will be used in a city centre. On and off public transport, in an average sized carboot and on pavements.

Ideally I want a separate carrycot so I don't have to buy a moses basket.

I would like a maxi cosi car seat that easily fits onto a frame without any hassle. Will be doing the school run in the car and need to be able to grab the car seat and attach it to the frame without faffing.

Does the Jogger fit my needs? What model do I need?

I think I want the Deluxe carrycot as it seems to be a bit bigger.

Which model does this fit onto best?

Sounds good, i would get the city mini 4 or city mini gt. Even in town it's just easier to push and the larger seat will last you longer.

There is always some discussion over what carrycots are certified as suitable for overnight sleeping (if that's what you mean, if you mean daytime naps than most carrycots would be fine).. I don't recall baby jogger ones being mentioned as either specifically suitable or not but it would be easy enough to confirm with kooltrade or babyjogger themselves.

I dont believe Baby Jogger carrycots (except for maybe the hard bassinet) are suitable for overnight sleeping.
The City Mini, GT and Versa are all possibles. But the compact plus and hard bassinets only fit on the City Mini and GT.

I have a BJCM but don't absolutely love it if I'm honest. It is great in many ways, but not perfect.

The one handed fold is flipping BRILLIANT, and so so good for getting in and out of a car. I just hold it by the handlebar and release the clip - it unfolds itself. Really easy to take the wheels off if necessary for stowing, they clip back on v easily too.

I find it really heavy to push, and worse with a full basket. I have the 3 wheel version and really wish I'd got the 4, which is apparently a bit more stable - the 3 is rather tippy on wonky pavements etc. Sadly I live in a town with lots of steep badly maintained pavements!

The handle is rounded and I have to hold it down the sides to keep it stable, which strains my wrists and is lower and therefore less comfortable. Personally I find straight handles easier.

DS finds it v comfy, tho we have a sheepskin seat liner too, and he sleeps very well in it (2yo).

The hood is great, really massive and keeps light rain off, and the BJ rain cover is fab too, v good fit and easy to use.

It's a good buggy, and sounds like it ticks your boxes, but I agree with ihateparties - the 4 or GT are better than the 3 wheel CM.

I have the city mini GT. It was intended to be our second pushchair for dog walking and holidays (we have an iCandy as our 'main' pushchair). DD is 13 months old now and I'm preparing to sell the iCandy as the GT does everything we need...and it does it all so well. I can't identify with any of the issues LongTailed has stated that she has with the regular city mini as the GT is very stable and easy to push even with a fully ladened basket and my 29lb DD in it. It was also fab as a holiday pushchair because of the decent basket, huge hood and ease of folding.

LongTailedTit · 15/08/2013 23:58

Small - I do sometimes wonder if I'm just feeble!! Grin
My friend has a BJ Select and has no issues with it.
I wanted the GT but the extra weight and cost scuppered it.

Yespleasetotea · 16/08/2013 00:08

I completely agree with LongTailedTit about the city mini. I love a lot of things about it (fold, basket, hood, handle height, bulld quality) but find it hard to push with my 99th centile DS and it hurt my wrists too! I wished I'd gone for the GT or four wheeler.

But, because I love Baby Joggers so much I've now got a Versa GT which is fab (with some help from MNers).

It's so light to push and the chunky wheels whizz over rough ground easily. It is heavy to lift when folded up
but that's the only downside, I think.

A sheepskin makes the seat really snuggly and the basket is even bigger than the city mini.

Baby Joggers seem like such good quality products, I think they are really built to last.

BJCM 3-wheel here. Chosen for similar reasons to you, works really well.

We didn't use a carry cot or a Moses basket. Dd slept at one end of her proper cot from the start. She naps in the pushchair. A reason for choosing it is that it can lie near enough flat for a newborn, without having to buy a carry cot, making it very good value. She's always been comfy and cosy in there. When bigger, the foot muff is great.

It's really manoeuvrable, great round sharp corners and I like the round handle as I can push one-handed. You can't do that with two separate handles.

I don't find it heavy and know it isn't, having compared a number of pushchairs, significantly lower weight was one of its benefits (about 7.5 kilos compared to 10 or 11). That's comparing to other large-framed ones though, it's slimmer and lighter than those but it isn't a small chair.

I take it on the bus a lot and it fits in the space neatly, side on. Smaller umbrella ones can go in the other way but mine protrudes into the aisle. You couldn't fit two of these, so it's lucky other people do have smaller ones. I haven't had to fold and stow yet but ability to do so was a reason for choosing it.

The car seat adaptors work well. It took a bit of research to be sure which ones to get.

The sunshade is really good and the rain cover works well.

Well, I've had two BJCM's and the double and the carrycot. I stripped one BJCM down to the chassis when ds2 was tiny and just used the carrycot in it. There are lots of lovely pushchairs out there and I'm sure it has its limitations but for me it was all about the one hand fold while travelling. I took the boys on trains, planes, ferries and the regular old bus and knowing that with a sling I could just collapse it so easily was just such a relief of pressure. I used a bugaboo cocoon in the double for jaunts to town from 2 months or so and it was a handy additional way of using it. I am pregnant again and doubt I will ever use anything else.

islasmummy2013 · 18/08/2013 20:11

Iv just bought a versa gt and i'm disappointed if I'm honest, I find it so heavy to push, expecially going up pavements. I had a bugaboo cameleon before which I loved so maybe I'm just adjusting to it but so far it's in the bad books!
