BJCMGT. Is it too big to take on a cruise ship?

We are going on a 2 week cruise in October. My DD will be 16 months old. We've holidayed with the BJCMGT before and it was perfect but I'm concerned that it might be a little bulky for a cruise ship where space is at a premium.

Has anyone taken one on a cruise? Will it be ok as long as I fold it in the restaurants/in the corridor before going into the cabin. Or am I going to have to fork out for an umbrella fold? Is this the justification I need to buy a Yoyo? Grin

Ha! I've just come back from one and took my BJCM4 instead of my beloved GT. The GT would have been fine except for getting into the cabin. The back wheels of the BJCM4 were scraping the doorframe and it was like trying to manoeuvre an arctic lorry into a parking space! Not a dealbreaker but a bit of hassle.

I bought a Yoyo for the ship and sold it before hand because I hated it :o The BJCM was fine except for the doorway.

You hated the Yoyo? I'm glad to hear that in a way as I love the BJCMGT but had a niggling feeling that the Yoyo might be the ultimate travel pushchair

Folding the GT outside the cabin shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I was a bit worried about storing it too but we have a balcony cabin so we can bung it out there if needs be.

I've cruised before but this will be my first with DD so if you've any tips or cruising with kids, I'm all ears :)

I was going to fold it but the truth is that it's so laden down with stuff, even on a ship that it wasn't practical. Mine had toys for both children, water bottles for both, milk for dd2 etc. apart from nappies which we went back to cabin to change, I felt as if I was carrying the same amount of stuff as usual! If you can break that habit you'll be ok :)

The Yoyo was great except for the handlebar which stuck up straight in the air, was very high and non adjustable. Otherwise it would have been perfect.

Which line are you going on? We were on Cunard and, although it has a fab kids' club that dd1 went to, dd2 was too young (18m) and so she was with us all the time. It was fine but tiring! But then I was quite conscious of trying to keep her quiet which might not have been so much of an issue on a more family orientated ship. Also, we were on a transatlantic crossing so no getting off which would have broken up the routine for her.

We've been many times before and will probably do it again next year. We go with family and there are 11 of us including 5 children from 1 - 11yrs and they all adore it.

Ah, I'm short and DP is tall so non adjustable handles are a bit of a deal breaker for me anyhow. I know DD will happily nap in the GT so I'd rather suffer the minor inconvenience of folding the GT than buy an umbrella fold that she might not be as comfy in.

We're sailing P&O this time. We've cruised with Celebrity in the past but felt we should go for something more family friendly with DD. my parents will be on board too so we'll have some back up for childcare. We're doing transatlantic too with just one stop en route and then 5 ports once we reach the Caribbean.
