Pump up wheels on a pram... Yes or no?

Hi all, looking for a pram and need some advice please. Pump up tyres... OK or avoid?

Do you get punctures with them? If so often? What happens if you are out and get a puncture? Are they easy to repair?

I heard you can get some stuff to put into the tyre to stop punctures. Anyone tried this please and does it actually work?

So many questions. Thanks.

We were advised by sil not to get a pram with inflatable tyres as hers always seemed to get punctures in the most difficult circumstances; in the rain, miles from the car/home and when she was alone with 2 children. I haven't had one myself though as I took this advice on board!

I agree with lovelyredwine and would avoid - I had a Quinny buzz and the wheels constantly got punctures. It was hugely inconvenient and annoying! I tried the slime that you put in the tyres but it only worked for me on one tyre - the other one got to the point that it wasn't repairable. And this was on a pushchair that had barely 6 months of light use.

Unless you need air tyres (I think they are better if you do a lot of walking but someone more knowledgeable than me could advise on that!) then I wouldn't bother and would go for foam filled.

I had some advice not to get pump up tyres due to punctures. I also had someone advise not to get hard tyres as they cause pram to judder.
I got a phil and teds- which has inflatable tyres. I've had it just over a year and go off-road fairly regularly with it. I've had 2 punctures, I've had no trouble pushing the pram home with a slightly deflated tyre. The 2nd puncture I was an hour away from home and still managed to push it home without any trauma.
We have puncture repair kit at home, DP fixed it both times no fuss.
I have heard of the gel people use it on bikes too. Heard good things but haven't tried it myself.

I used a Phil and Ted for 3 years, I only got a puncture twice in that time - both times I got it repaired at Halfords (they didn't charge me).

You do need to remember to blow them up every so often as well, pushing that P&T which weighed more than the moon was difficult with even slightly soft tyres.

I prefer not, but I usually slime my tyres and as yet, I havent had a single puncture.

I hate them! Had a double with them and twice had to carry 2 small children home almost a mile as the bloody thing wouldn't move!! Never again. My mil was very upset with me for abandoning my pushchair by the side of the road in case it got stolen but I'd have happily paid someone to take it. I was told to use tyre slime by some people then warned against it by others as it makes the tyres heavier.
