Does anyone have the CasualPlay Livi?

We are thinking of selling our beloved Uppababy Vista in a few months for something a bit more compact. The Babyzen Yoyo looks a bit "open" to me. DD is 10 months. Is the Livi suitable for a baby or better for toddlers? Any pros/cons/thoughts?

Also, how much does it cost?

TIA!

Yes, I have a Livi and a YoYo (makes mental note to get both side by side to compare!)

I think you need to look at the two pushchairs in a different way TBH.

The YoYo is the ultimate in small compact folding, easy use pushchair. The trade off to that is that its not quite as detailed or as big.

The Livi meanwhile is a slightly bigger pushchair with a lie flat, suitable from birth seat, with a bigger hood, bigger basket, pull out calf rest etc. But as a result the folded size is a bit bigger too.

There's no doubt really that the Livi is the bigger...I want to say better but I dont think it is....hmmm.....more like a regular pushchair (does that make sense?) but the beauty of the YoYo is in the size.

I do have a photo of the Livi, YoYo and Oyster Gem all in my car boot together, but I can't show you it tonight. I will try and get the two side by side for you to look at. But there is no doubt you will look at the Livi and decide its got the bigger, better seat. However for me although the Livi still has a very very neat and small fold compared to most, the YoYo is just that bit neater and therefore more handy to have.

If you dont need a really dinky fold, then get the Livi. But there's nothing like being able to put the YoYo in your footwell, by your feet, under a chair in a theatre or under a table at dinner etc. But to be fair, the Livi does freestand really very nicely which has its own advantages for storage.
I took my nearly 5 year old out for a spin in the Livi yesterday and she was easy peasy to push up and down steps. She was pushed across grass a few months ago in the YoYo.

I think both pushchairs feel good. The YoYo definitely feels smaller and neater. There is a bit of movement in the Livi handle but it was fine with our eldest in - which TBH was where I expected any issue to be. But it passed that test with flying colours!

The YoYo fold is defintely one handed once you have done the first stage. You can fold the Livi one handed past the first stage too although as we discussed on here, the fold lock needs 2 hands to put on whereas the YoYo autolocks. The fold is very similar though but you have the hood to contend with, with the Livi (an extra step to fold it down). You could leave a child in the YoYo seat for the first stage, and then complete the fold with the child tucked under your arm. However you would need to remove the child from the Livi seat (unless you dont use the hood) for the complete fold.

Both pushchairs are great but you absolutely need to look at your precise reasons for buying either. They are tiny folding pushchairs, and with that comes small compromises. So its really whether you need the small fold, and if so, do you need a one handed fold or not, or whether the fold size matters. If you dont need a small folding pushchair, then there's loads of other neat folding bigger pushchairs too. Does that make sense? I wouldnt take the YoYo out on an all day trip - I would take a bigger pushchair. However I would, and have taken the Livi out all day. I think maybe thats important to note too?

Sorry this all feels a bit messy. I hope I make sense!

Whatever both pushchairs are FAB! I own both, and both for now are staying here! I have had my YoYo now almost a year which is almost a record for me!

Thanks Tiggy that's v.helpful. It's something like these two, or an umbrella fold that we are thinking of. Possibly the uppababy g luxe. But I think I would prefer a fold in half buggy TBH. Big seat, decent canopy and durability are most important. How much is the Livi? And the Oyster Gem??

I have used the livi but not the yoyo.. from what you have said in your second post I personally wouldn't have either as my only pushchair. More so the yoyo but that is based upon what tiggy says about hers! The livi is very nice and very compact, not as ultra compact as the yoyo but I don't believe it is intended for everyday use.

I keep seeing a g luxe locally, it does look nice. I like a half fold too though. I have a babyhome emotion xtreet, have had it for well over 3 years now.. which is beyond a personal record! It is compact, the fold is fairly compact and it's the lightest thing to push ever. It will stay when all the other pushcbairs are gone. After 3 years the only thing that has ever gone wrong is a popper has come off the fabric at one side and i do pretty much abuse it as I know it will never be sold. I love it. Can you tell?? Grin

Hmm ok, thank you. Where can I buy the babyhome in the UK? And how much does it cost? Just read the best buggy review but the first thing it says is a negative about the wheels. :-/
Good wheels are important for me!

I've seen the old G Luxe, but I can't see the new design G-Luxe before buying it as nowhere locally stocks it unfortunately. Fully suspended wheels, full Sun shade, lightest umbrella in the world, removable seat cushion, two year warranty...I have been impressed with my Vista. It is starting to look like my best option. The other one I was thinking about is the Britax B Agile..?

I wouldnt buy a YoYo as my only pushchair. Its a supplement for us to a bigger pushchair ie one to choose for whatever occasion we have.
Both the Xtreet and Livi would need importing. I had an Xtreet and I liked it a lot. However my Xtreet - a later version to Parties one - had a seat which didnt sit upright. It really niggled me that the children didn't look comfy. I know exactly why Parties likes hers and I would have another one IF I could be sure I could have a more upright seat on one. We have seen another one out and about since, and that looked like it had a pretty upright seat.

I think you could use the Livi for every day use, but I would worry about how much the handle could take across a long period of time. Again I see it as an extra pushchair to go alongside say a Vista. I think for a replacement, that a BJCM or B-Agile would be better as an every day pushchair. But it does all depend how much you use a pushchair, if you are car based, if you walk loads, and how much your LO is already walking?

jumperooo · 29/07/2013 14:24

Thanks. It would be used daily, she's not walking yet. I've looked at the BJCM and its seems the same height/size as the Vista, I don't really feel like we would be downsizing with that one, and of the two, I'd rather have a Vista.

I know what you mean, unless you buy an umbrella fold or yoyo/livi/xtreet then most of the models like the city mini,b agile etc. Just don't feel very much smaller

The b agile is slightly more compact than the city mini but the features are a little less user friendly overall (i prefer them but i know most prefer the city mini). Imo for daily use a cetain amount of comfort is worth a little extra size but if you like the g luxe then i think you probably get both. I like a bar handle, it has become a necessity to me really so basically rules out all umbrella fold pushchairs. I did have a cybex callisto for a bit, single handle umbrella fold and it was pretty nice.

I spent a loooong time and a lot of money trying to find a lightweight smaller folding pushchair which was nice to use. I never succeeded, I think if you're used to something as nice as the vista you're going to find it hard to downgrade. I gave up and realised in the end that a good fully featured mid weight pushchair is just nicer to push and use than anything lightweight. If you walk a lot you'll definitely miss the vista with any of these choices. But if you're in and out of the car a lot and only using a pushchair for short bursts then I guess the smaller and lighter the better, all the rest matters less. If you do both long walks and car, then one big one small!

chocolatemartini · 29/07/2013 18:23

Ps would also love to try the new G-luxe. If I liked it, it could replace my horrible bumpy suspensionless Quest

Ihateparties · 29/07/2013 20:25

martini I agree with you but would almost petition for the xtreet to be an exception. It's the lightest and nicest to push of anything I have used (I'd better not count up how many that is) the ONLY issue for me is the wheels are hard thus noisy. The suspension is lovely, it's fine on terrain except gravel and sand, the basket is massive. I'm in a constant state of talking myself out of replacing my scratched up grubby v1 with a new v3 one before all my children get too old...

chocolatemartini · 30/07/2013 08:29

Hmm parties that does look good. Shame I can't easily go & play with one... Used to make regular trips to the Europe and the states but I never thought about importing buggies in those days! How times change.
