Pimping your pram?

I am thinking of buying a second hand Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle (haven't quite gotten over the fact that some of these things cost as much as a small car!) and there are two things I'm hesitating over. One, whether I would be able to manoeuvre it around on public transport. Two, it is a boring black colour all over.

Has anyone tried to personalise buggies? Is there fabric paint out there for example that could work for painting stripes or whatnot onto the pushchair? (I can hope, right?)

bright fleece cosy toes.

I had a green mountain buggy and always wanted one of these, but that was 15 years ago, no eBay and country show prices were way way beyond my budget. I had to make do with a dull Mothercare one. Although as toddlers both DDs did brighten up the pram in wild fleece jackets. These were so easy to wash and so utterly indestructible that I'm even crosser I could have a jazy cosy toes.

The mountain buggy it's self was our one real extravigence, bought because it fitted so well with our weekend walks and rural visiting rural GPs. It was only possible because I was lent a crib, baby bath, bouncy chair and mounds of clothes etc by a DF.

Oh and if modern mountain buggys are half as good as the originals you won't regret it, ours went everywhere from cliff paths, to beaches, to bouncing up escalators in a big city.

Thank you for the ideas! I haven't heard of cosytoes >bookmarks<

Aidan, sorry for the ignorant question, but what do you mean by 'a sheepskin'? I assume not the spreading of an actual pelt across the pram? (though who knows?)

Get thee on Facebook, there are loads of pages on there where you can buy custom stuff for buggies. I'm about to vinyl wrap my frame to funk it up a bit

Cosy toes also win over snow suits because a) the baby doesn't grow out of them and B) they can be quietly unzipped and folded back as you enter a shop.

Hence preventing overheating baby waking up an screaming.

DD1 literally wouldn't tolerate the snow suit for 30 sects at more than 5°C (fortunately it was another thing we were lent)

LOLOL

OK - get Googling!

Buggysnuggles
Cosyosoko
Snunkie
Clair de Lune - I like their Pushchair Snuggs
Cuddles Collection
Mamas and Papas
RoRo Taggy

And generally explore websites like Mothercare, Amazon etc using words like footmuff, cosytoes, blanket, liner, stay put blanket etc.
Or simply head for a really good independent pushchair shop and marvel at the choice of footmuffs etc they have in their shops! Dont be afraid to mix brands eg the Quinny footmuffs have looked great on my MB in the past (its not maybe the best brand but just an example of something that works).

See this is why I like customs. I had poshbugs ones for dd1, she used to do me the hood and footmuff to match which looked fab and the footmuffs are huge. She makes them as long as she can without them trailing on the wheels

NoComet · 31/07/2013 22:33

Yes, toddlers do get to tall for coseytoes eventually, but hopefully not until they are past the taking there socks off and chewing them stage.

When the cosytoes is indeed useful for hilding wet socks and keeping bare feet warm.

This didn't stop DD2 somehow getting her bare feet out of the cosy toes in Munich in Dec.

This was most Blush German babies all have hats, gloves and shoes on and look well dressed for 0ºC. DD didn't even own a hat and gloves, she'd have lost them instantly.

I have a 7AM enfant footmuff and my nearly 5 year old fits in well with room to spare. The Kaiser XL ones are huge too.
