Bugaboo foot muffs

Do the current ones (the footmuff and the high performance one) fit the old (2009) bugaboo bee? Just found my old toys r us one and remembered what a PITA it was slipping down all the time with DS1 and want something less irritating for DS2.

No they won't, you need the bee 09 specific ones for the buttons to be in the right place. It will work after a fashion, but the buttons for the hood will be under the footmuff

Oh thanks. That's sooo annoying. They're meant to be universal, to fit the bee plus, new cam and donkey. So the new ones all have the buttons in the same positions but in a different position from the old bee / cam / gecko? Looks like I might have to take advantage of John Lewis's generous returns policy to see just how unsatisfactory it is.

The original bee and the bee plus are the only ones with buttons, the cameleon donkey and buffalo all have a tubular frame seat and the hood hooks over the back with fabric, so no buttons. Bugaboo used to do 2 footmuffs, a bee one and a cameleon one, but now they have 4 models they do a universal fit one for all the current models, but the bee 09 isn't a current model so its not designed to fit it. It will work because the harness holes are long slots with Velcro, but as I said, you would have to hook the fabric over the back of the seat without fastening the buttons, and then the ho

Does that mean the hood won't button on either? How feasible would it be to cut in the button holes and finish the edges with a sewing machine (I'm reasonably handy with that) ?

If you have a button hole function on your machine you will be fine. Hook the footmuff over, make sure its on straight and even, then mark with a sewing fabric pen (wipes off) and sew buttonholes where they need to be. Then open your button holes carefully with a seam ripper. If its not sharp then just use it to make a small hole to get your scissors in. This is how they are done in the factory and how custom makers do them (ex custom maker here, hence why I know so much about the fit of the footmuffs)

Only problem with that is when you try to sell it on - some people may not want a foot muff that has been "modified" even though it's the only way it will fit.

bonzo77 · 30/07/2013 21:00

Thanks. Not too worried about resale as would probably sell the buggy complete with all accessories. Anyway, am going to order it and it I love it modify it, and if not send it back. Thanks for the advice.

Update. The high performance footmuff has arrived. It has 2 elastic loops at the top which go over the Bee's buttons.
