Need a new buggy for nearly 1 yr old. One piece only. Please help!

Hi all
Last time I asked for pushchair advice I got some great replies and I bought an icandy cherry which I love. Baby is now nearly 1 and soon to be out of his stage 0 car seat so really my icandy won't be as practical anymore.
What I want to buy next is a one piece folding buggy that is comfortable for the baby, that I can push with one hand as have an older child who likes to hold my hand and is good over rough conditions so we can take walks off road.

All suggestions welcome.

I would suggest a Maclaren but they are not so good off road, a baby jogger city mini gt might be a good bet.

MortifiedAdams · 20/07/2013 20:06

I have a Maclaren XLR which I love and can push one handed. How off road do you want? Mountains or grassy verges?

Parietal · 20/07/2013 20:14

Bugaboo bee. Fabulous buggy for everything.

JW37 · 20/07/2013 21:04

Not quite mountains but rough tracks and forest etc.

Bugaboo bee is the mutts nuts. 2nd hand they are prob about £150 and worth every penny

City mini Baby Jogger. Wish I'd got it from the beginning!

JW37 · 20/07/2013 21:12

Hmmm bugaboo. I didn't actually know they did a stroller and I have never really looked at that brand before as always been above my budget. Does the bugaboo bee last well? Want this stroller to last until I no longer need a pushchair at all.
Thanks

I love my nipper. Is onto my third child and still going strong :-)

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 20/07/2013 21:15

Mine is already about 4 years old but it looks like new. It's a very small one piece fold and it's very compact- it goes through and round shops easily. My only regret is not buying one new rather than it being pram number 3 Blush

gintastic · 20/07/2013 21:15

And is great off road, it's been all over. Get the tyres slimed as well, I've not had a puncture in 2 years :-)

emsyj · 20/07/2013 21:16

I have the babyjogger City Mini and i love it. A friend has the Bee (2 friends actually...) and they seem pretty light and sturdy, although one of them says she wishes she'd bought the babyjogger! Wink

RandomMess · 20/07/2013 21:17

I would say nipper as you want off road.

JW37 · 20/07/2013 21:36

What's the nipper? I've never heard of it?

Nipper 360

Older models as good as newer models if you want to buy 2nd hand

Ooh just looked at the nipper and the nipper thread on here. They look lovely. The purple is fab.

Please don't get a bee to use off road... please don't.

That is all :-)

A nipper, a city mini gt, a britax b motion... all good.

gintastic · 20/07/2013 22:24

It's my 8mo favourite place for a nap :-) she slept 4 hours in it the other day! (Nipper, that is...)

Tiggywunkle · 20/07/2013 22:50

TBH dont dismiss the Cherry (although I have seen you want off road which the Cherry isnt great at) or two piece folds in general. It can be far easier to simply take the seat on and off than to faff around with some one piece folding pushchairs - I have some one piece folding pushchairs which I love but are a complete PITA compared to having my 2 piece Peach.
You certainly dont want to be swapping a Cherry for a Bee!! Believe me the Cherry is easy in comparison and would serve you better on any more challenging terrain than the Bee!

Hashtagwhatever · 20/07/2013 22:54

Id say mclaren also. Light weight sturdy and good value for money

VodIsGod · 20/07/2013 22:57

Doesn't the iCandy Strawberry fold down in one piece? I've had a Cherry and a Peach and and find them to be a fantastic brand.

JW37 · 21/07/2013 08:05

Yes I think the strawberry does as my friend has one. Hadn't really considered it to be honest as want a change now. We never fold the cherry down as its in two pieces so its always blocking the hall. I just want something now that folds down easily, compactly if poss, but with good off road performance. We have one patch of rough ground near me and the cherry feels as if its going to fall apart it judders so much when we cross it.

In every other aspect I've loved the cherry and I think it was tiggy who gave me the recommendation about 18 months ago.

I've looked at the city mini and the nipper on line and like the look of them both. It probably is just down to how compact they are when folded now.

Although i will look into any other suggestions.

Thanks all. X

The City Mini would be easier to store - it will lie on its side against a wall - look at the City Mini GT too. The Nipper wont store as neatly. Have we mentioned the Versa? Thats an extremely neat folding FF and PF pushchair. Mine props very flat against a wall folded (upside down). There are the GT and non GT wheels - but the regular wheels will be fine on rough ground or more. Also have a squizz at a Britax B-Motion. Parties and I differ because I prefer the BJCMGT and she prefers the B-Motion bit there really is not much in them. Both are very good.
